Tbh, if i were to rate the arcs according to how much i liked the plot and synergy between mc&ml, (1)i’d go with arc 1 yu yan’s story as first and foremost. Mc was such an interesting character i wouldn’t mind reading his story with his little bird for another hundred of chapters. His arc was not the most detailed but it had great potential to be well fleshed out and still end up a very interesting read. (2)then yushi’s arc with the butterfly. I felt the author held back on this piece. The ml’s life was obviously such a tragedy, i didn’t feel good for me that things ended in such a nonchalant way. I felt like my chest was full of cotton i can’t put it down. On another note tho, this arc also a well thought out background story that can stand alone if well fleshed out. (3) yumo’s arc was actually more interesting plotwise. The mc and ml are 5 star standard protagonist characters. The background itself was very standard western fantasy novel. I like how the author strategically wrote this arc into a worldhopping arc. Obviously if not well fleshed out it would be terribly dull and difficult to follow but since it’s only an arc not a stand alone novel the author won’t write every detail, the ‘life and death’ boundary scene fulfilled this. Very smart tbh. But also made it very abrupt for readers to feel out so it scored lower to me. (4) yuguang’s arc should’ve been the most interesting but also the dullest for me since he’s the well deserved op protagonist in this novel. Even his ml can’t outdo him. I found it the oddest that it only ranked the 4th in my books because i am an absolute lover of op protagonist the most. Maybe because it’s also the arc where ihad to suspend my disbelief the most. People r just the most complex creatures emotionally. (5) yule’s arc..hm i love both mc and ml’s characters if they were not paired together. I just can’t like them together. I can’t suspend my disbelief the more i read the arc the more i despise it. I like a mischievous dare devil and i also like a rigid silent senior brother but i just can’t picture them in love. So i almost skipped this arc but i still read till the end. This arc was a mess but very typical in the same troupe. Overbearing mc vs coddler/conniving ml well meh 🫤 not rly my taste.
My only minus is the obviously lazy approach on the overarching plot.
