The passengers all separated to look for the witch’s corpse. Plus, they ignored the freed crew to keep looking for her. They should’ve used that opportunity. And it’s probably better to fight one cultist that might have other powers directly than to let him finish his ritual, especially when the last one transformed everyone into monsters…

Everly doesn’t know what other powers the cultist has(they might have other unused ones) and the controlled passanger fanatics outnumber the crew and there might not be enough earplugs for the 70+ crew members and you need those to fight the cultist.

I’m pretty sure she could’ve won if she had been more decisive. After all there was only one cultist with a power she had shown could be countered easily (see Misha). The whole crew listened to her (for once) and they only had to focus on one person… And if anyone had access to weapons, it would have been them.
