On second thought she could just Google legends of the Fountain of Youth but idk how it feels to be really desperate to save a loved one. She deeply loves her grandpa so I won’t judge how set she is on finding the Fountain of Youth as I don’t know how far love for somebody and wanting to save them can drive you. Her love can just make her want to save her grandpa no matter the risk to herself.

Everly isn’t a know it all about horror movies, doubt she was interested enough to do a deep dive in legends and folklore about the Fountain of Youth, she only has vague knowledge of some horror movie genres and probably is only interested in the Fountain of Youth due to a vague knowledge of what it represents as it shows up a decent amount of time in fiction, so she likely doesn’t know the stories you speak off

I just checked various myth and there are multiple stories of those who have found it or look for it, but in the extreme majority of them, only gods (and saints) can find/use it and leave. In most others, proof of its existence appears in the vicinity of the seeker after he died. It is also often depicted with multiple naked men who profit from it but never leave it in the more recent descriptions (last millenium)…
I don’t know about you, but if I lived into an horror world, I wouldn’t seek something with those characteristics.

I mean the journey almost certainly is very dangerous circumstantially but there’s no hard evidence to back it up(unless I missed something). The poem doesn’t even have clear fight encounters, just a trial and supernatural being she’ll encounter she may not have to fight.

Just because the fountain of youth is well known doesn’t necessarily mean its that dangerous. Also maybe it has reasons it can’t be commonly found except with the poem info that will be explained later. She probably didn’t tell her grandpa to A: not give him false hope and B: get him to want her to stop going into danger to help him. Also identity issues are better than death anyways and she could’ve thought about it off screen. She also is desperate to try to save her grandpa and not lose a loved one, so it makes sense shes obsessed with the Fountain of Youth. She just loves her grandpa more than the risks, and she also gets the side benefit of staying young forever with those she cares about(if the Fountain of Youth doesn’t have any unexpected things stopping her from using it more than once or something).

We don’t know no one succeeded though, just no one we know of succeeded. Also she has plot armor and buffs around the ocean so 🙏

What pains me more is her obsession with the Fountain of Youth…
There is almost no chance she can succeed when no-one (or almost) did for the last 2 1/2 millennia. It’s a clearly dangerous supernatural legend that started in Greece and continuously appeared in multiple cultures in different continents over the centuries. Furthermore, she hasn’t even asked her grandfather about whether he is interested in it or not, nor has she thought of the consequences of him becoming young again (identity issues)…
That’s not consistent with the behaviour I expected from her…
