Like I said, more reasons why it was hard to find the Fountain of Youth not related to direct combat of the supernatural Everly would struggle with: It took lots time to research and realize the fountain unlocks when Venus rises and the other hard to find information, you can miss the time period easily, like if you are 60 but the fountain unlocks in 60 years and descendants could dismiss your words and not search for the fountain. Also there (probably)wasn't a humongous number of treasure searchers. Adding on, the Fountain of Youth info that the fountain unlocks when Venus rises and the other hard to find information wouldn't be shared among treasure hunters probably unless threatened. Also Irl unlike Indiana Jones or most treasure hunter movies (before Everly enters the adventure movie for the Fountain of Youth) there probably wouldn't be a trail of clues leading to the treasure, it seems more likely for those clues to be worn down by time, lost forever, or just not exist as most treasure hunters probably wouldn't want others to benefit from their effort before the Horror movie magic comes in and makes it to build the plot. There could also be more reasons untold.
