In reply to <a href="https://awanderingpotato.com/2026/10/22/safe-city-ch-201-1/#comment-1809">Robi</a>.

I just suddenly thought. I've have been mixing the broad meaning of apocalypse to world catastrophy which is the extinction of a civilization. But the apocalypse in this story is the death of the world itself. It's not because people are dying, it's because their laws/rules/system/heavenly Dao got damage and can't repair so the world is dying.

I'm always thinking that Dark Star went 8 extinction, which means 8 apocalyptic event for the 8 civilization and MC didn't even see a corner of safe city saving her other 7 children. And as Aether explain, his safe city has already been there before MC.

So Dark star is a dead planet where it's rule/laws/heavenly dao is gone. It experienced the safe cities but still didn't survive.

But when MC took over, she replace the world's consciousness, it's law, it's rule, it's system and therefore, no matter how much civilizations die and renew in Dark star, it never trigger the safe city system. Because Dark star is alive. A living world will always be able to give birth to new life regardless of how much catastrophy it civilization encountered.

(Sorry for rumbling. I just had to leave my thoughts cause I'm reading this in pausing. I tend to forget the settings.)

MC forgot that her mental energy used to perceive the whole of Dark star along with it's planetary system. She used to affect it physical and used to fling away asteroids and such before anything can hurt the planet. She's the equivalent of the Heavenly Dao in Dark Star. It's not a surprised that the great annihilation only took a bite out of an 'active' protection system. If MC isn't so sick, perhaps Dark star won't be swallowed whole. Of course, resisting it would probably make her sicker if not death. But she can surely protect her planet from ending up as dust.
