Chapter 370 – Huge Surprise

Wei Chen’s gaze also shifted over. He keenly sensed that the atmosphere between Chen Yunlan and Qu Ran was somewhat different.

It seemed more intimate.

However, this further confirmed his speculation.

The person Chen Yunlan was introducing to Chen Li today was indeed Xie Chunsheng, but introduced under a different identity.

It was only now that Chen Yunlan recalled what was said to Chen Li over the phone that day and turned to glance at Xie Chunsheng.

Xie Chunsheng seemed nervous but still nodded at Chen Yunlan, although his palms were already sweaty at this point.

Yes, Xie Chunsheng was indeed nervous. The bizarre concept of reincarnation, returning to life, whether Chen Li believed it or not wasn’t the main concern. What concerned Xie Chunsheng was whether Chen Li would recognize him when the time came.

Chen Yunlan looked solemnly at Chen Li, cleared his throat, and said, “Xiao Li, I want to introduce someone to you.” Saying this, he pushed Xie Chunsheng in front of himself.

Chen Li looked at Xie Chunsheng, his face showing confusion, and said, “This is Uncle Xie, haven’t we already met?”

“Xiao Li, if possible, I hope you can call him ‘Dad’,” Chen Yunlan also started to feel nervous. After all, Qu Ran’s matter was something he held close to his heart. He didn’t want Qu Ran to feel resentful because of this.

Upon hearing this, Chen Li misunderstood decisively. He thought that Chen Yunlan and Xie Chunsheng had already made a decision, so Chen Yunlan was introducing Xie Chunsheng to him as his partner, hoping that Chen Li could accept Xie Chunsheng and call him dad.

“Dad, have you and Uncle Xie become a couple?” Chen Li asked with excitement and curiosity. He could tell that Xie Chunsheng genuinely cared for Chen Yunlan, so if they were together, Chen Yunlan’s later years would be happy. Naturally, Chen Li felt happy for Chen Yunlan.

As soon as Chen Yunlan heard this, he knew Chen Li had misunderstood. He solemnly said, “Xiao Li, what I mean is, he is your father.”

“Huh?” Chen Li was stunned. “What do you mean?” Wasn’t his other dad Qu Ran? How did it become Xie Chunsheng?

“Uncle Xie is Qu Ran,” Chen Yunlan said as if he could see Chen Li’s confusion, dropping this bombshell.

And then, Chen Li was completely bewildered.

Uncle Xie was Qu Ran? What was going on?

Chen Li looked at Chen Yunlan and then at Xie Chunsheng, as if trying to find traces of joking on their faces. But apart from seriousness, both of them appeared nervous. In other words, Chen Yunlan wasn’t joking—Xie Chunsheng was the Qu Ran who had passed away over twenty years ago.

And then what?

This is impossible, right? How could someone who died become someone else? Chen Li felt utterly confused, and in the end, he could only look to Wei Chen for help.

Wei Chen stepped forward, embracing Chen Li and said to Chen Yunlan and Xie Chunsheng, “Dad, I think Chen Li needs some time to accept this. I’ll take him upstairs to calm down a bit.”

The word “dad” might have been directed at Chen Yunlan, or perhaps it encompassed both Chen Yunlan and Xie Chunsheng. Chen Yunlan nodded. He could understand Chen Li’s reaction; he himself took a long time to accept that Xie Chunsheng was Qu Ran when he initially linked them. It was normal for Chen Li to struggle to accept it for a while.

Wei Chen took Chen Li upstairs, leaving Qiuqiu with Chen Yunlan and Xie Chunsheng. Qiuqiu noticed the adults talking but not feeding him noodles, so he obediently took the spoon and started feeding himself.

After finishing a bite, he looked up and realized both of his dads weren’t around, so he let out a little “ah.”

Chen Yunlan was brought back to attention by Qiuqiu’s call. After feeding Qiuqiu the noodles, he played with him.

While everything seemed fine on the surface, there was still a lot of concern in their minds.

Chen Yunlan looked at Xie Chunsheng, intending to offer some comfort, but Xie Chunsheng seemed fine already. He was playing with Qiuqiu cheerfully, guiding Qiuqiu to call him grandpa.

Qiuqiu complied, calling Xie Chunsheng “pa pa” several times, which made Xie Chunsheng exceedingly happy.

Unable to contain himself, Chen Yunlan asked, “Aren’t you nervous?”

Xie Chunsheng replied, “It seems like I’m really not nervous anymore.”

The most nervous moment had passed when Chen Yunlan disclosed the truth to Chen Li.

When the truth was revealed, Xie Chunsheng inexplicably relaxed. Because regardless of whether Chen Li accepted it now or not, he believed, with his sincerity and paternal love for Chen Li, that Chen Li would eventually accept him.

However, what concerned Xie Chunsheng was Wei Chen’s attitude. He didn’t sense any surprise from Wei Chen, almost as if Wei Chen had anticipated this matter.

Xie Chunsheng shared his doubts with Chen Yunlan, who found it somewhat amusing. He said, “Achen has always had the same expression, and he hides his thoughts deeply. Even if he’s surprised, it’s hard to tell. Besides, if Achen can really accept this matter, wouldn’t it make it easier for Xiao Li with Achen by his side doing the mental work?”

Xie Chunsheng thought about it and realized Chen Yunlan’s words made sense, so he stopped dwelling on the matter. He focused on playing with little Qiuqiu, almost wanting to wrap the child in his arms and give him a good cuddle.

Upstairs, in Wei Chen and Chen Li’s room.

Chen Li sat on the edge of the bed, still in a daze. Wei Chen was there, accompanying Chen Li without disturbing him, allowing Chen Li to contemplate on his own.

After a while, Chen Li turned to Wei Chen and asked, “Achen, is what Dad said true?”

Wei Chen ruffled Chen Li’s hair and asked, “What do you think?”

Chen Li remained silent for a moment before saying, “I don’t think Dad would lie to me. And whether Uncle Xie is Qu…” Chen Li felt like directly using Qu Ran’s name might not be appropriate, so he changed the address and continued, “whether he’s my other dad, I think Dad should be able to sense it clearly. So, although this seems unbelievable, I feel it’s true.”

Chen Li had his own reasoning for saying this. Chen Yunlan loved Qu Ran deeply, so even if Qu Ran changed bodies, Chen Yunlan should still be able to discern it from various aspects of life. Just like if Wei Chen were to change bodies, Chen Li believed he could quickly sense it.

Moreover, Qu Ran held a special place in Chen Yunlan’s heart; he wouldn’t treat Qu Ran as a lie.

It was these deductions that made Chen Li believe Qu Ran was Xie Chunsheng, despite the incredible nature of the situation. Although he was dazed a moment ago, his thoughts were exceptionally clear, analyzing the whole situation logically.

“Then believe in your deductions,” Wei Chen said.

Chen Li nodded and then asked, “Achen, you don’t seem surprised at all by this. It’s like you knew about it a long time ago.”

When it came to who understood Wei Chen the best in the world, it was undoubtedly Chen Li. So while Xie Chunsheng might have felt wrong, Chen Li’s feelings were undoubtedly accurate.

Wei Chen indeed knew about this matter a long time ago. He didn’t hide it and nodded openly, “I had guessed.”

As for how he would explain to Chen Li why he guessed this unimaginable thing, Wei Chen had already prepared his explanation.

He didn’t want to bring up past life matters to Chen Li, hoping that the painful memories from that time wouldn’t disturb Chen Li.

‘Li Li, just be the happy and extremely happy Chen Li that you are now.’

Chen Li’s eyes lit up instantly, admiration filled his heart and eyes. “Achen, you’re so amazing, to be able to guess that,” he said.

As Wei Chen prepared to present the explanations he had crafted, Chen Li, without questioning, wholeheartedly believed and admired Wei Chen. It seemed whatever answer Wei Chen came up with was unquestionably correct in his eyes.

Wei Chen realized this and immediately softened his gaze, reaching out to embrace Chen Li.

He was his Li Li, and he felt incredibly fortunate to have a second chance at life, to have Chen Li’s complete happiness.

Though the embrace was somewhat sudden, Chen Li didn’t question it; he just reached out and tightly hugged Wei Chen, snuggling in his arms. The atmosphere was incredibly warm.

When Chen Li and Wei Chen came downstairs, the sky had already darkened.

Today, Chen Yunlan personally cooked a large table of dishes. During this process, Xie Chunsheng followed Chen Yunlan, holding onto Qiuqiu.

Xie Chunsheng wanted to help Chen Yunlan, while Qiuqiu’s attention was fixated on the food the entire time. Despite having eaten a bowl of noodles not long ago and surely not being hungry, his appetite didn’t diminish due to a full stomach.

Finding Xie Chunsheng clumsy in the kitchen and worrying about the smoke affecting Qiuqiu, Chen Yunlan ushered the grandfather-grandson duo out.

By the time Chen Li and Wei Chen came downstairs, Chen Yunlan had already prepared dinner, while Qiuqiu was playing with Xie Chunsheng.

Approaching the two, Chen Li casually said, “Dad, why don’t you go ahead and eat? Qiuqiu and I had a bowl of noodles earlier. We’ll eat a bit later.”

“Okay,” Xie Chunsheng naturally agreed, taking a step toward the dining table. As he did, he suddenly froze, belatedly realizing that Chen Li had just called him ‘dad.’

He turned around, excitedly looking at Chen Li. “Xiao Li, what did you just call me?”

Chen Li repeated, “Dad.”

Chen Yunlan, coming out of the kitchen, heard this too and stood there stunned. Seeing Chen Li willingly accepting Xie Chunsheng made Chen Yunlan happier than anyone else.

Of course, the most excited one was Xie Chunsheng. He ran back to Chen Li, eyes filled with tears of joy, and with a trembling voice, he asked, “Xiao Li, can you call me that again?”

This was his son. His son was calling him dad, accepting him. Just as he was prepared for a long struggle, Chen Li gave him a huge surprise out of nowhere!
