Chapter 439 – Arrest

“Alright, Old Xiao, are those foreigners in your office right now? Keep them there, don’t let them leave. I’ll immediately send people over to arrest them.”

“I’m heading over as well.”

Xiao Changsheng said, “There should be another person…”

Before he could finish, Xu Jinning quickly interrupted, “No, there are two more. They’re at Changshun Road, but I don’t know if they’re still there now…”

Upon hearing Xu Jinning’s words, Xiao Changsheng quickly provided the exact location of the other two individuals.

“Good, I’ll make a call and send people over there too. Let’s leave it at that for now.”

The call ended, and the office returned to silence.

Xu Jinning let out a sigh of relief.

The contract hadn’t been signed yet, and no deposit had been paid. The suspect was still in the office, now just waiting for the police to arrive and make the arrest.

At this point, Xu Xiangbei had a vague understanding of what was happening, but he didn’t ask any further questions.

Although Zhang Changzheng hadn’t arrived yet, with his superior’s orders, it didn’t take long for a police car from Anren County’s Public Security Bureau to show up, along with several officers.

Jason and his accomplice were taken away in a state of confusion.

Clearly, they hadn’t expected to be exposed.

Not only that, but Jason and his companion saw two of their other associates in the police car as well.

The police had coincidentally arrested them on Changshun Road while passing by.

When the officers arrived, the group had still been chatting recklessly.

With the police on the scene, Jason and the others were taken away, and Xu Jinning no longer needed to stay.

She and her brother still had to continue discussing business deals with the merchants. Time was tight, so they couldn’t afford to linger.

“Girl Ning, I won’t forget what you’ve done,” Xiao Changsheng said, unable to express more, leaving it at that one sentence.

Although the outcome hadn’t been determined yet, his eyes were filled with gratitude.

“No need for that. You’re Uncle Xiao to me,” Xu Jinning said with a smile.

Since Xiao Changsheng had always been so dedicated to serving the people, and had always been kind to her and the Xu family, it was only natural for Xu Jinning to help him when she learned he was in trouble.

Of course, even if it had been a stranger, as long as they were a fellow citizen, Xu Jinning would have helped.

After all, Jason and his gang of fraudsters were despicable. Who knew how many people they had harmed with their actions?

The rest was up to the police to investigate and question the criminals.

All Xiao Changsheng and Xu Jinning could do now was wait for news.

Before Xu Jinning left, Xiao Changsheng promised that once the police had results, he would inform her immediately.

“Little Sister, is the thing you mentioned forgetting a few days ago related to today?” Xu Xiangbei quietly asked after they left the government office.

“Yes,” Xu Jinning didn’t hide the truth from her brother.

“So, it’s been resolved now?”

“Yes, it’s resolved.”

“Good, now you don’t have to worry about it anymore.” Over the past few days, though Xu Jinning had hidden her feelings well, Xu Xiangbei had noticed her unease. He just hadn’t said anything.

Now that the matter was settled, Xu Jinning no longer had anything weighing on her mind.

Xu Xiangbei didn’t ask how exactly she resolved it, though he had his suspicions.

He had a vague sense that his sister had used her ability — her inner voice.

Xu Xiangbei was aware of his sister’s special ability and understood that in certain situations, she couldn’t openly talk about it. In those moments, her only option was to use her inner voice.

It was because he had heard his sister’s inner voice that he had realized the trap his so-called “good brother” had set for him. This revelation had helped him wake up and ultimately change the course of his fate, avoiding his death.

Or perhaps, this time, it was the same for Xiao Changsheng.

That was why he had said those words to Ningning. Since he had already guessed, there was no need to ask. It was better for Ningning this way.

Xu Jinning soon returned to her busy schedule.

Finally, after five days, she had convinced all the merchants to move into the supermarket and had signed the contracts. Once the supermarket was built, they would be ready to move in.

However, by then, there was less than a week left until the end of the summer vacation.

Xu Jinning and Xu Fanghua were preparing to leave, and Zhang Ailian was busy helping them pack.

She couldn’t help but sigh at how quickly time had passed.

As for Xu Fanghua, her mother-in-law, Mother Song, was still planning to accompany her to Beijing to take care of her. After all, Song Yi was still abroad, and Fanghua, her daughter-in-law, was pregnant with her future grandchild, so of course, she needed to be well taken care of.

Xu Jinning, meanwhile, had been waiting to hear back from Xiao Changsheng about the interrogation results of Jason and his group, but there had been no news.

Could she have been wrong?

The next day, when Xu Jinning returned home after taking her two nephews out, she found two visitors waiting for her.

“Uncle Changzheng, Uncle Xiao, you’re here?”

Indeed, it was Zhang Changzheng and Xiao Changsheng. The moment Xu Jinning saw them, she knew they must have results regarding Jason and his gang.

Sure enough, after she sat down, Zhang Changzheng began to explain.

After Jason and the other three were arrested that day, the investigation and interrogation began immediately.

Some things, if you really dig into them, can be uncovered.

However, because Jason and his group had committed crimes across multiple countries, the investigation took a bit more time.

But since they had already been involved in scams in other countries, it wasn’t long before the authorities uncovered the full extent of their activities.

The investigation revealed that Jason and his group had been using a scheme where they re-coated broken equipment to make it look new, then sold it to other countries.

Each scam involved a significant amount of money, and every time, they managed to slip away.

This time, however, they hadn’t expected to finally be caught in this country.

Once news of Jason’s arrest broke, it quickly attracted the attention of officials from the other countries he had defrauded. They came forward with evidence and demanded that Jason and his accomplices be tried in the International Court of Justice.

Yesterday, Jason and his group were transferred to the international court, and the specifics of the trial’s outcome were still to be determined.

But from the current situation, it was clear that Jason and his associates were facing heavy sentences.

“There are many people filing claims against Jason and his crew.”

“Some were defrauded of more than $100,000.”

“Their specialty was international fraud. After committing a scam in one country, they would flee to another to hide, then commit another scam and escape again…”

Jason and his team never imagined that after so many smooth operations, they would be arrested here.

They hadn’t made any obvious mistakes.

Xiao Changsheng had almost signed the contract and handed over the deposit—how had things suddenly taken a turn and the police gotten involved?

Jason and his group couldn’t make sense of it.

But Xiao Changsheng and the others had no intention of explaining it to them.

“Ningning, thank you,” Xiao Changsheng said. He had come specifically to express his gratitude to Xu Jinning.

Although he couldn’t explain the details, all his words of gratitude were summed up in that single sentence.

This thankfulness, he would carry in his heart forever.
