Chapter 48: Divine Beast Bixie

Ying Xuejian had been kept in a small, confined space for so long that others instinctively thought she was incapable and knew nothing.

However, after the curse mark on Ying Xuejian disappeared, Ying Tong realized that this young girl was incredibly intelligent, almost frighteningly so. She could grasp anything immediately, especially when it came to cultivation.

She had actually reached the Foundation Establishment stage in her cultivation, but it had been hidden by her demonic heart, preventing the Ying family from noticing.

It seemed that over the years Ying Xuejian had been confined, the demonic heart had taken on the role of her teacher.

But here lay the issue: the essence of a demonic heart was evil. Could an evil demonic heart teach someone to be good?

Clearly, it was impossible.

Watching the now-suppressed waves of demonic energy, Ying Tong knew this was only temporary. If the Ying family was not solved, it would remain like a thorn.

If a thorn wasn’t removed, it wouldn’t work its way out on its own; it would only sink deeper until it embedded in the flesh entirely. While it might appear healed on the surface, only the one suffering would understand the pain within.

“Oh, right. Previously, didn’t we find an egg in that ancient secret realm?”

Ying Tong suddenly asked.

Ye Ying nodded. “Yes, there was a Bixie egg. Why are you asking? That Bixie egg has been around for who knows how long; to hatch it would require feeding it a substantial amount of evil…”

Ye Ying paused mid-sentence, then looked at Ying Tong in disbelief. “You’re not thinking…”

Ying Tong nodded. “Yes, that’s exactly what I’m thinking.”

“You must be crazy. Putting those two together—you’re not afraid they’ll destroy each other?”

Seeing his expression, Ying Tong waved a hand and said, “Effort is up to people. Besides, a Bixie is a divine beast; once it recognizes its master, it won’t harm them.”

Ye Ying choked up for a moment. “That’s true, but Bixie is a divine beast that specifically feeds on evil and all filthy things in the world. Meanwhile, Ying Xuejian was born with a demonic heart and demonic bones. If you put them together, what if something goes wrong?”

Wouldn’t that be like putting a cat and a mouse together?

As for who would be the cat and who the mouse, that was anyone’s guess.

“Let’s give it a try first. The newly hatched Bixie beast will be quite weak, so it won’t be able to harm Xuejian. Let’s see if they can get along; if it doesn’t work, we’ll separate them.”

Seeing Ying Tong’s casual attitude, Ye Ying sighed and took out the Bixie egg.

Oh well. He was used to Ying Tong’s unreliability by now.

Among the three of them, Ying Xuejian was the first to finish absorbing the power of the Dragon Blood Refining Pill and walked out of the room.

With two top-level talents, her speed was only natural.

As soon as she stepped out, before she had a chance to share her joy, a red egg with flame-like patterns was placed in her arms.

Holding the egg, Ying Xuejian looked at Ying Tong with a puzzled expression. “Venerable Yunhuang, this egg…?”

“Oh, this egg? Help me hatch it over the next while, and once it hatches, look after it for a bit.”

Ying Tong didn’t say she was giving it to her directly.

Ye Ying was right: if the two got along, it’d be fine, but if anything went wrong, with Ying Xuejian’s keen intuition, who knew what conclusions she’d come to? Not to mention, there was still the demonic heart by her side, ready to fan the flames.

Ying Xuejian hugged the egg lovingly and happily agreed to the task. “Venerable Yunhuang, don’t worry! I will definitely complete the task you’ve given me. I’ll raise this egg to be chubby and healthy for you.”

At the same time, her demonic heart, sensing the presence of the Bixie egg, cursed silently, “Fool! Being used as free labor, and even happily counting the money for them. Do you even know what’s inside that egg?”

Ying Xuejian dismissed the warning. “No matter what it is, this is a task the Venerable Yunhuang entrusted to me. She would never harm me.”

If the demonic heart were a person, it would probably be spewing smoke in frustration right now.

After painstakingly teaching Ying Xuejian all these years, it couldn’t believe it was still less trusted than a stranger who had just shown up. This was truly heartbreaking.

First, there was the sarira Buddha beads, and now this mythical Bixie beast—there was no room left for it at all.

Just then, a wisp of demonic energy was forcibly drawn from the demonic heart’s body and absorbed by the Bixie egg.

Demonic Heart: #%$%@%…#%#

Meanwhile, on the other side, Ying Tianxin, who had been denied entry, got up from the ground, his expression darkening as he released a terrifying aura around him.

Of course, this wasn’t directed at Ying Tong, but rather at the likes of Ying Nanxi and the others.

For the first time, they felt the wrath of their ancestor firsthand. The overwhelming pressure was so terrifying that they couldn’t even muster the thought of resisting. Their legs weakened, and they dropped to the ground with a thud.

Ying Tianxin noticed the growing crowd, which included spies from other families, and, despite his seething anger, held back. He didn’t want to give the other two families any leverage.

Suppressing his fury, he addressed Ying Nanxi and the others. “You had better give me a reasonable explanation for this.”

Those who had no idea what was happening felt deeply aggrieved. They knew nothing, had been living their lives as usual, and suddenly found themselves cursed.

Not only had their appearances been ruined, turning them into something neither human nor ghost, but their paths of cultivation had been severed as well.

This curse could only be kept at bay by feeding it with their own cultivation; if they stopped, it would spread through their bodies, ultimately leading to death.

Ying Nanxi and the others who knew the truth instinctively shuddered.

They didn’t know if they should tell the truth, or how the ancestor would react if he learned it.

But they had done this for the sake of the Ying family’s return to the Cangqiong Realm.

For the good of the entire family, sacrificing a few individuals was worth it, wasn’t it?

Besides, weren’t they doing this to help the ancestor fulfill his wish?

Upon returning to the Ying family residence, Ying Tianxin immediately summoned all the family members.

“Ancestor, have you found a lead on the curse?”

The family head and several elders, wearing masks, stepped forward and were about to take their seats.

Seeing this, Ying Tianxin shouted coldly, “Who gave you permission to do this?!”

The family head and elders froze mid-motion, their bodies tensing. “Ancestor, what do you mean by this?”

At that moment, Ying Nanyang spoke up. “Family Head, esteemed elders, today we met someone from the main family. She said some things, and after the ancestor heard them, he…”

“Kneel!”

At that command, every member of the Ying family dropped to their knees.

“What have you all been doing for the past hundred years?” Ying Tianxin demanded sternly.

For a long moment, no one dared to speak. The silence was so intense that the faintest sound could be heard.

Ying Tianxin let out a laugh of disbelief, his voice edged with rage. “Well, it seems you’re brave enough to act but not brave enough to own up to it!”
