Chapter 191: Villain Couple, Saving the World
Charli returned to the royal city and, amid everyone’s expectations, became queen.
Cardinal Croft crowned her, placing the crown upon her head.
The pointed tower raised a new flag, and the flag, unfurled by the wind, swept over the reflection of white doves.
People cheered, praying that the new queen would bring hope.
The royal city was immersed in a sea of joy, with countless petals scattered across the streets, landing on people’s heads.
In the north, a heavy snow fell.
The white snow covered the black ashes left by the flames, and everything between heaven and earth seemed sealed by the snow, momentarily stilled.
Only invisible things grew in the darkness beneath the earth, waiting for the moment to surge forth.
“Charli should have become queen by now, right?” Peruth sat within the soft blankets, the flickering fire illuminating his face and the marks on his chest.
“Is Eloren still not telling me what he wants me to do?” He leaned closer to Yu Mo, who was resting against the pillow, his pale, long hair cascading and shimmering like flowing gold in the light.
Yu Mo felt his hand moving under the blankets, slowly calming from the earlier sensations, his voice slightly hoarse. “Wait a little longer.”
By now, Peruth surely understood what he wanted, and his questions were merely a way to hear him say it aloud.
Yu Mo knew Peruth would agree, would be willing, but he still said, “Wait a little longer.”
“I don’t mind waiting as long as it takes.” Peruth pressed his lips against Yu Mo’s cool, white neck. “But you do, don’t you?”
Yu Mo avoided further conversation, tilting his head back. “Have you rested enough? If so, let’s continue.”
Peruth opened his mouth and bit the throat near his lips.
He was utterly enamored with every inch of Eloren’s skin and every subtle expression on his face.
Only at times like these, when he deeply moved Eloren, did Eloren reveal a different expression.
Eloren’s rare indulgence allowed him to enjoy a pleasant stretch of time.
According to Eloren’s usual habits, this should have ended now. But when Peruth got up, he was pulled back once more.
“Continue,” Eloren said.
Peruth was a bit surprised. Eloren liked to take initiative but never lost himself; he preferred seeing him out of control, only to gradually regain composure. Even this preference was expressed with restraint.
Why was he indulging today?
“Eloren…” The rest of his words were silenced.
Yu Mo pulled him back roughly, kissing him for a while, his lips turning vivid from the pressure. “Do you want to?”
“Of course,” Peruth replied, saying no more as he gladly accepted the invitation.
The cardinal sat at the table, which was laden with food.
The host who had invited him for dinner was typically stingy, usually allowing him only a small portion to stave off hunger.
But today, the host was generous, allowing him to partake freely.
So, the hungry man cast aside his manners and elegance, revealing a ravenous appetite he had been suppressing.
The plate was filled with juicy steaks marinated with herbs, emitting a faintly spicy aroma, perfect for biting into with vigor, the juices bursting forth.
The deep red rose sauce tasted sweet, never overwhelming no matter how much he ate; it could be savored slowly, licking every bit.
The creamy white soup was rich and sweet, and the white cheese had a milder sweetness and faint dairy flavor, with a tender, smooth texture that was utterly delightful.
At last, the hungry man showed a satisfied expression.
The guest, now full, helped clean the messy dining table.
Every corner was wiped clean, leaving no trace of oil or sauce, even the spilled creamy soup that had seeped into the table crevices was meticulously removed.
But he had eaten too much, and the host did not look pleased. With a cold expression, the host said, “Go back and prepare. Come see me again in ten days.”
“Very well, Eloren. Rest well.” The cardinal, smiling, took his leave.
…
Tonight, the moon was imperfect.
Yu Mo took another bath in the bathroom, letting the essence of aquatic flowers flow over his hair, face, and body.
Countless pink rose petals clung to his pale skin, not washed away by the clear water.
After putting on clean clothes, the lingering sweet scent finally faded, leaving only the bitterness of the aquatic flower essence.
A ship-shaped magic circle, drawn with silver dust, shimmered with silver light, layered with various aquatic flowers of feminine energy.
Irises and daffodils created a bed of flowers at the center of the magic circle. Yu Mo stepped onto it and lay down.
Around the magic circle, spiritual candles ignited all at once, filling the air with the smoke of burning herbs.
Yu Mo clasped his hands over his chest, holding a sapphire star necklace infused with the power of the moon, and closed his eyes.
The light of the necklace grew brighter, its power intensifying.
The magic circle became like a real small boat, about to carry him across the dark river, into the chasm of death.
The boat began its journey, lifted by the aquatic flowers, and rippled over the water until it suddenly sank into the depths.
Yu Mo opened his eyes, finding himself in the space between life and death, a place he had once visited before.
This place had no fixed form, and this time, he saw only darkness.
He walked through the darkness, hearing desperate cries for help.
“Help me, help me, help me…” The weak, mechanical pleas echoed with despair, voices from his youth.
Yu Mo turned his head and saw, in the narrow darkness, a black-haired boy, bruised and battered. This was the boy’s final cry for help before his death.
Ignoring him, Yu Mo walked past, pressing forward through the shadows.
The star necklace in his hand emitted a silver glow, illuminating a small patch of ground under his feet like a tiny lamp.
Ahead, a shadowy figure slowly came into focus. It was a figure with black hair and dark eyes, a cold, gaunt expression on a face he knew well—his own.
It was the face Yu Mo had seen in the mirror every day of his twenty-odd years, yet it now looked strangely unfamiliar, as he had never worn such an empty expression.
The shadow stood like a ghost, meeting his gaze.
Yu Mo passed this version of himself, indifferent, not knowing which world or time it belonged to.
Further ahead, the thick darkness closed in, and he saw a black-haired young man standing on an ancient, mysterious altar, slicing open his chest to expose a still-beating, crimson heart.
Yu Mo met this shadow’s gaze as well, observing the exposed, pulsing heart.
He moved past this shadow, only to encounter another.
This one was clad in strange, priestly robes, a black-haired young man impaled through the abdomen by a scepter.
This shadow did not meet Yu Mo’s eyes as he passed by but looked upward, reaching out his hand.
Yu Mo followed the shadow’s gaze. Above him, the darkness roiled, revealing massive, deformed black limbs that reached down, covering him.
The creature’s limb, like the tip of a tongue, sucked the blood from his body.
This being was so immense it seemed impossible that it could exist in the world, grotesque and terrifying, causing shudders with just a glimpse of its limb.
If it needed a name, it would be called an “Eldritch God.”
Yu Mo looked away.
More shadows appeared ahead, but he moved forward like a train, not stopping at any of the stations, letting their light briefly illuminate him before fading into darkness.
Leaving everything—both what had happened and what hadn’t—behind him, Yu Mo pressed on toward his destination.
He was heading for the Divine Kingdom.
The power of the moon was awakening in the northern lands, rising once more over the Divine Kingdom, guiding Yu Mo’s path.
He walked through the darkness and entered the thorny mountains.
This was the path Peruth had once walked as well. Yu Mo did not glance down at the blood and wounds on his feet; the star necklace kept swaying and spinning in his hand.
Losing consciousness and then waking again, it was as if he was reliving Peruth’s fate.
Upon awakening once more, he found himself by the bank of a red river, having emerged from the thorny mountains.
His bloodied and wounded legs were supported by someone, platinum hair draped over him, and he felt a warm, wet sting on his wounds.
The person bent over his legs looked up, revealing bloodstained lips.
Their eyes met, and the figure licked their lips again.
“What is Eloren planning to do in the Divine Kingdom?”
Yu Mo tried to stand, but Peruth held his leg firmly, keeping him in place.
“You still haven’t answered me.”
“Didn’t you already guess?” Yu Mo replied.
Peruth brushed his cool face. “Weren’t you going to leave it to me? So why did you come yourself?”
Yu Mo answered, “I only trust myself.”
“No, it’s because you love me,” Peruth smiled. “No matter what you truly think, you have to say that to me, just as you did before.”
Yu Mo made to stand once more, but was again restrained by a force.
He frowned. “I told you to see me in ten days, and you didn’t obey either—so why be upset with me?”
With a slight push, he stood up from the ground and gazed toward the light of the Divine Kingdom, setting off in that direction.
In the red river, someone caught up to him and took his hand.
The staircase leading to the Divine Kingdom had already collapsed, and the last remnants of the steps vanished completely as they walked onward.
Crossing the Thorny Mountains and the Red River himself, Yu Mo finally entered the Divine Kingdom. It was nothing like the version he had seen through Peruth’s illusions.
The grand palaces here were more tangible, but also more broken.
Countless pillars of light supported the sky.
Yu Mo felt an intense pull from the necklace in his hand.
He glimpsed the cosmic stars and the Moon Palace he had seen during his first Moon Goddess ritual.
Like a shadow, it lay on the backside of the Divine Kingdom, facing the radiant pillars of the Sun.
Light, now visible and concrete, streamed through their hair and clothes as stars began to descend.
“The Pope’s god-creation plan failed,” Peruth’s voice said, though his face was blurred by the light. “The power, grown to an uncontrollable extent, is now devouring this place.”
“The world built upon gods began collapsing the moment the gods fell.”
This was why the lands below were ravaged by death and disease.
What appeared to be the start of disaster was, in fact, the end. It seemed slow to humans, yet to the gods, it was a mere instant.
“So, what do you want me to do, Eloren?” Peruth asked again.
Light pooled in their clasped hands.
“I want you to take on the power of the Sun and return it to the earth.”
“And the Moon?”
“I’ll do the same, as you will, and return it to the earth.”
“You might die, Eloren.”
“You might as well, Peruth,” Yu Mo replied, gazing at him through the hazy light. “Are you afraid of death?”
“I live beside death; this ‘old friend’ can’t frighten me anymore,” Peruth said.
“But you’re different. I want you to make a soul pact with me.”
Hand in hand, they floated within the chaos of the crumbling Divine Kingdom.
“I want your soul, to love mine wherever it may be,” Peruth held his hand tightly. “In exchange, from the first moment I see you, I will love you.”
After what seemed like a long pause, Peruth finally heard his lover’s reply.
He laughed softly, murmuring to himself, “I always said you were a love-struck fool. I was right.”
The black-haired lover drew closer, and that rare, gentle smile made his eyes look like the first star at the meeting of night and dawn.
He kissed Peruth’s forehead, just as Peruth had first kissed his, and declared, “I accept.”
Then he released him, falling toward the sun’s reflection and the palace of the moon.

Wow! The author showed us Yu Mo’s villain version. So that’s why his villain title in the profile was Priest. While Yu Yan was probably a mad scientist/doctor(?) and Yu Le was a little devil, what about Yu Shi? Yu Shi was too honest and lovable tbh. It was hard to imagine him being a villain. XD
I’m assuming for Yu Shi, since his name is “The Controller”, his desperate need for love along with everyone naturally favoring him, maybe he was something akin to a cult leader. Maybe not a cult leader but someone who would emotionally manipulate others to do his bidding.
Also does anyone else think that the eldritch god that villain priest! Yu Mo is reaching for is bad end evil god! Peruth or is it just me….
This novel is becoming one of my favorites so fast aaaahhh I need to see more work that this author did ~ the way the author write the story is amazing I’m in love
