Chapter 59: The Annihilation of the Clan

“Go and tell this to… nevermind, there’s no need.” Ying Tong looked towards the door. “Since you’ve already heard everything, why don’t you come in?”

There was a faint sound of footsteps outside, and in the next second, Ying Xuejian pushed the door open and entered.

At that moment, a faint dark aura surrounded her, her eyes were slightly red, and the sarira Buddha beads on her wrist emitted a faint glow.

“You should have overheard our conversation just now. What are you planning to do?” Ying Tong asked.

Ying Xuejian was silent for a long time. Then, she lifted her head, meeting Ying Tong’s gaze directly. She replied, “I want to take revenge with my own hands, but that means those people will be able to live for a long while yet.”

Although Ying Xuejian possessed two of the highest talents, cultivation still required time.

Ying Tong nodded. “The longer the time, the greater the chance for unforeseen events, but remember, you are not alone. When you stand high enough, you’ll realize that the things you once cared about have become insignificant.”

“Are you trying to persuade me to let go of my hatred, Venerable Yunhuang?”

Upon hearing this, Ying Tong blinked. “Why would you think that? Never advise others to be virtuous if you haven’t suffered their pain. Other than yourself, no one has the right to ask you to let go of your hatred.”

After listening to Ying Tong’s words, a slight change appeared in Ying Xuejian’s expression. “Then what did you mean just now?”

Ying Tong sighed softly. Indeed, her mind was still too sensitive. It seemed that she would need to be more straightforward with her in the future.

“What I mean is that revenge doesn’t necessarily have to be carried out by your own hands. You are Ying Xuejian, and you and they are destined not to walk the same path. You will reach heights they could only dream of. They are nothing but trivial people on your life’s journey.”

“Perhaps, decades or even hundreds of years from now, when you have achieved greatness, someone might even jest, ‘When the heavens assign great responsibility to someone, they first distress their mind, exhaust their body, and starve their flesh…'”

Ying Xuejian was taken aback upon hearing Ying Tong’s words. The hatred she had felt toward the Ying family began to dissipate after this unexpected interruption.

Venerable Yunhuang was right. She was no longer that pitiful girl, trapped in a dark dungeon, beaten and scorned, without even a name. Now, she was Ying Xuejian.

As if making a firm decision, Ying Xuejian turned to look at Ye Ying.

“Lord Ye Ying, may I ask for your help with something?”

Ye Ying glanced at Ying Tong.

Ying Tong nodded.

“Of course,” Ye Ying agreed readily.

Meanwhile, at the Ying residence…

Ying Nanxi and the others had paid a hefty price to acquire the sarira Buddha beads from the black market. They had hoped that the beads, known to restrain curses, would offer relief.

However, after using them, they discovered that while the prayer beads did have some effect on the curse, it was very limited.

After Ying Nanxi wore the beads, the curse lines on her body did start to recede, but only her face cleared up. From her chin down, the curse lines continued to eat away at her.

Furthermore, Ying Nanxi’s attempt to suppress the curse with the beads only served to infuriate the curse. The moment the beads were removed, the curse retaliated with even greater force.

Watching Ying Nanxi collapse to the ground, screaming in pain, Ying Nanyang and the others instinctively took a few steps back, their faces filled with fear.

“How could this happen?”

Ying Nanyang quickly regained his composure. The prayer beads were useless, and they still hadn’t located the vessel’s parents.

At that moment, a trace of resentment against the head of the Ying family rose in Ying Nanyang’s heart. They had used the girl, so why couldn’t they keep their promise and treat her family with decency? Instead, they had covered up the matter in such a deceitful way.

Though the family head hadn’t completely eradicated her family, he had exiled them to the distant borders, which was worse than simply killing them outright.

Now, they couldn’t find anyone they were looking for.

Earlier in the day, Ying Nanyang had just received an urgent summons from his sect. It was clear—there was no more time to waste.

Now, there was only one option left!

Although the ancestor had shown great reverence toward that person, Ying Nanyang didn’t believe the person’s cultivation would be particularly high, considering her age.

At that moment, a chaotic noise came from outside.

Several shadowy figures, as elusive as ghosts, appeared within the Ying family estate. They killed anyone they encountered, leaving no survivors in their wake.

“What’s going on?” Ying Nanyang’s expression tightened, a bad premonition rising in his heart.

As he hurried out of his room, the sight that met his eyes was a battlefield of corpses, with bodies scattered everywhere.

In the distance, a person dressed in black slowly walked toward him. Her face was expressionless, and even though a gruesome corpse lay before her, she didn’t avoid it. Instead, she calmly stepped over the body without a flicker of emotion.

The shadows continued their killing spree within the Ying family, but they selectively spared a few people.

These spared individuals were gathered together, trembling in fear as they glanced around, dreading the next moment when a shadow might flash by and separate their heads from their bodies.

Ying Nanjiao was the first to recognize Ying Xuejian, the same person she had met in the tailor shop.

But why was she here?

Ying Tianxin, looking at the young woman who had suddenly appeared in the Ying estate, asked, “Who are you?”

Ying Xuejian raised her gaze slightly. “Don’t you recognize me? Well, it’s true that you don’t, but I recognize all of you. I didn’t originally plan to come here, but I feared I might regret it in the future, so I decided to come after all.”

Upon hearing Ying Xuejian’s words, everyone finally understood her identity.

She was the very vessel they had used for over a decade.

“Are you here for revenge?” the head of the Ying family asked.

Ying Xuejian tilted her head slightly, a faint smile forming on her lips.

Due to the overwhelming amount of Ying family bloodline within her, Ying Xuejian didn’t resemble the Ying family members much at all, but instead looked very similar to Ying Xuechen.

However, at that moment, the gentle smile in such a grim setting was nothing short of eerie.

“Is it really that hard to figure out?” Ying Xuejian answered candidly. She was indeed here for revenge.

“Nanzhao, think carefully. We are your family. How long will this cycle of vengeance go on? If you spare us, we will compensate you in the future,” one of the elders said.

“Who is Nanzhao?” Ying Xuejian frowned.

“Nanzhao is your name. Do you like it? It was given to you personally by the ancestor. Among our generation of brothers and sisters, you’re the only one who has received such an honor.”

The elder spoke as though he were making a profound revelation, certain that Ying Xuejian would be overjoyed and excited.

However, there was no such reaction. Ying Xuejian’s expression was not one of joy, but rather one of disgust. “I’m not Nanzhao. I am Xuejian—Ying Xuejian. This is the name Her Excellency gave me.”

“Lord, do it?”

A shadowy figure appeared beside her.

“Don’t you have anything more to say?” the figure asked.

Ying Xuejian shook her head. “I have nothing more to say to these people.”

Initially, she had only wanted to avoid leaving any regrets, but now, there was even less to say.
