Chapter 47: The whole family knew

It might have been the cold, but she was hunched over, her neck completely hidden. Qin Mo reached out and pulled her into his arms, laughing softly as he said, “Wife, you look like an ostrich now.”

“You’re the one who looks like a camel!” Wen Xia shot him an angry glare.

Qin Mo raised an eyebrow, and the next moment, he bent down to imitate Wen Xia’s posture. “Perfect, we’re a natural pair.”

Wen Xia couldn’t help but laugh. She reached up and hugged his arm, acting coy as she said, “Husband, I love you more and more.”

The small convenience store in the village was not far away, just a few minutes’ walk. Wen Xia stood at the door and pointed at the vinegar on the counter. “A bottle of vinegar, Aunt Li, the one that costs twelve yuan.”

“I’ll get it for you now,” Aunt Li said, glancing at Qin Mo. “Xia Xia, is this your relative?”

A husband could be considered a relative.

Wen Xia nodded, then looked at the iron pot on the stove where spicy skewers were being cooked. “Aunt Li, also two more spicy skewers.”

Aunt Li smiled and handed her the vinegar. “Here, take it yourself. The chili is a bit spicy, so brush a little less.”

“Xia Xia, how’s your schoolwork going lately?”

“Not bad, Aunt Li. How much is it?” Wen Xia took two lotus root skewers.

“Thirteen yuan,” Aunt Li replied.

Wen Xia was about to pay, but Qin Mo had already given the money. She didn’t hesitate, handing him a skewer.

Qin Mo took the vinegar from her arms. “You eat it.”

Wen Xia held it to his mouth, raising her chin. “Take a bite, Aunt Li’s skewers are very clean. I used to eat them all the time when I was little.”

After he took a bite, she smiled and asked, “Isn’t it delicious?”

“You feed me well,” Qin Mo said, looking at her little red lips, his heart racing with desire.

He wanted to kiss her.

Wen Xia: “……”

Under Wen De’s watchful gaze, Wen Xia took the vinegar into the kitchen.

Wen Xia’s grandmother, Xu Qiong, was helping the nanny. Because the elderly couple had limited mobility, Wen De had hired a nanny.

Xu Qiong waved at Wen Xia and whispered, “Xia Xia, are you dating your Grandma Qin’s grandson? She mentioned it to me just now.”

Wen Xia: “……”

She had been trying to hide her early relationship, but now the whole family knew.

Thanks to Qin Mo.

She nodded.

Xu Qiong smiled lovingly and whispered, “I think Mo Mo is a good kid. Don’t worry, I won’t tell your dad. Your dad is old-fashioned, but if you have time, bring him over to play sometime.”

Wen Xia weakly responded, “Grandma, Dad knows.”

Xu Qiong: “……”

“Did your dad hit you?”

“No, Dad agreed.” Wen Xia shook her head.

Xu Qiong knew her son best. He was always rule-abiding, and for him to agree to something like early dating was a bit unbelievable.

She patted Wen Xia’s head. “Xia Xia, don’t always argue with your dad. He has a sharp tongue but a soft heart.”

……

When they went out again, the elders were talking to Qin Mo. At that moment, one elder asked, “How much did Mo Mo score on the midterm?”

Wen Xia saw Wen De standing nearby, looking serious, and almost laughed. He had probably wanted to ask these questions for a long time.

“744,” Qin Mo replied, glancing at Wen Xia and slightly tilting his head, signaling her to come over and sit.

Wen Xia hesitated. Going over meant getting tortured by the 744 score.

“Wow, that’s really high. Qiangzi, your grandson is impressive.” The elder who had asked spoke again.

“He’s quite good, his grades have always been excellent since he was little,” Qin Qiang added, trying to leave a good impression of his grandson at the Wen family.

Wen Hua knew that Wen Xia was dating Qin Mo, and he was smiling so widely that his eyes became slits, very satisfied with his grandson-in-law.

“Mo Mo is a good kid.”

Wen De suddenly remembered the parent-teacher meeting, where Teacher Cao had mentioned the top scorer of No.1 Middle School—could it be Qin Mo?

That wasn’t too bad.

At that moment, Li Shang arrived with his grandmother, Grandma Li.

Li Shang called out to her, “Xia Xia.”

“Brother Li, Grandma Li, please sit here,” Wen Xia quickly offered them two chairs.

“It’s been a while, but Xia Xia, you’ve gotten even more beautiful,” Grandma Li sat down and affectionately started chatting with Wen Xia.

Wen Xia smiled sweetly, “Thank you for the compliment, Grandma Li.”

Wen De came over to greet them, “Aunt Li.”

“Dezi,” Grandma Li warmly called Wen De by his childhood nickname.

Li Shang politely said, “Uncle Wen.”

Having watched this child grow up, Wen De had a good impression of him. He reached out and patted his back. “How’s your schoolwork been, Xiao Shang?”

“Not bad, Uncle Wen,” Li Shang shyly replied.

“Good. Xia Xia, why don’t you take Xiao Shang upstairs to watch TV?” Wen De suggested.

Wen Xia nodded, then glanced at Qin Mo and awkwardly cleared her throat. “Qin Mo, do you want to come upstairs and watch TV too?”

Wen De: “……”

Wen Hua smiled, “Mo Mo and Xia Xia can go upstairs, the table has some melon seeds and fruit, feel free to eat. Xiao Shang, don’t be shy either.”

Watching his daughter, who was in an early relationship, and her boyfriend go upstairs, Wen De rubbed his temples.

Second floor, living room

Wen Xia handed the remote to Li Shang. “Brother Li, you can change the channel.”

Another ‘Brother Li’. Qin Mo raised an eyebrow.

Li Shang shyly took the remote, glanced at Wen Xia, and quickly averted his gaze. “Xia Xia, didn’t you used to like watching Channel 36? Let’s watch that one.”

Just as Wen Xia was about to respond, she was pulled by the waist and sat down. The boy’s voice, with a hint of possessiveness, spoke up, “Hello, I’m Wen Xia’s boyfriend, Qin Mo.”

The introduction was so sudden that Wen Xia felt caught off guard.

Wen Xia: “……”

Li Shang froze for a moment. When he came to his senses, the smile on his face faded, and the spark of his secret crush was extinguished.

He went downstairs.

“What are you doing?” Wen Xia reached out and slapped Qin Mo’s arm, her little face puffing up.

Qin Mo wrapped both arms around her, sounding jealous as he said, “No more calling other people ‘brother,’ understood? If you do it again, don’t blame me for taking action with my underage wife.”

He felt that his wife was a bit unreliable, with “bees” popping up around her every now and then.

“Then what should I call him? I grew up with Bro… him,” Wen Xia replied.

She bit his cheek, as she always did when she was unhappy with him.

Qin Mo chuckled lightly, then immediately pinned her down on the sofa, leaning in to kiss her lips, not letting go until a minute or two had passed. “I’ll be jealous no matter what you call him. From now on, your husband will be with you for the rest of your life.”

Hearing footsteps, Wen Xia hurriedly pushed him off, sitting at the very edge of the sofa, covering her mouth, and pretending to watch TV seriously.

Qin Mo raised an eyebrow and moved to the other side of the sofa, imitating Wen Xia’s posture to watch TV.

God knows neither of them paid any attention to the TV.

Wen De entered and saw them, each sitting on opposite sides of the sofa.

They were still somewhat sensible.

He went into the bedroom, and after a while, he came out and went downstairs.

……

It was already the third time Wen Xia had seen her dad enter the bedroom, and she sighed. Wen Xia glanced at Qin Mo. “Should we go downstairs?”

Qin Mo nodded, turned off the TV, and the two of them went downstairs.

Li Shang glanced at them, quickly looking away.

Soon, it was time to eat.

Seeing the shrimp on the table, Wen Xia instinctively picked up a bowl and sat next to Qin Mo. Qin Mo knew exactly what she was thinking. He pushed up his sleeves a little and prepared to peel the shrimp.

Just as he was about to tell her to sit next to him, Wen De: “……”

He felt a pressure in his chest.

Under the watchful eyes of the elders, Qin Mo peeled several shrimp for Wen Xia. Worried that Qin Mo’s grandparents might think Wen Xia was spoiled, Wen Hua quickly reminded him, “Mo Mo, eat your own, don’t bother with Xia Xia. Xia Xia, peel your own shrimp, don’t trouble your Brother Qin.”

“Grandpa Wen, I like peeling shrimp,” Qin Mo said without missing a beat, grabbing another shrimp.

Wen Xia struggled not to laugh out loud.
