Chapter 55: Husband Has Everything

Wen Xia awkwardly cleared her throat and, holding fast to the principle of “if you’re not caught in the act, deny it to the end,” said, “We were just doing square dancing. Ah, no time to chat—I need to brush my teeth.” With that, she hung up on Qin Mo.

The boy, watching the girl on his phone’s lock screen laughing so brightly, tapped her lightly on the head with his slender fingers and said, “I’ll deal with you when we get home. So disobedient.” Then, he curved his lips into a faint smile.

Monday

The weather was getting colder. To encourage students to stay active, the school changed the second period’s radio gymnastics to running exercises.

Halfway through the run, Wen Xia started to feel stomach pain. Clutching her abdomen, she bent over slightly. Her period had arrived the night before.

Behind her, Jiang Yan noticed and, while running, softly asked, “Xia Xia, does your stomach hurt? Should I ask the class monitor for leave?”

Ahead of Wen Xia, Liu An’an overheard and turned back to glance at her. “I’ll talk to the class monitor. Yan Yan, help Xia Xia back to the classroom.”

“Okay.” Jiang Yan helped Wen Xia out of the running group. “Excuse us, please. Thank you.”

Once they had left, Liu An’an moved into the boys’ line and asked He Sheng for leave on Wen Xia’s behalf. Afterward, she headed to the school store to buy brown sugar.

Classroom

Jiang Yan filled a cup with hot water and handed it to Wen Xia. “Xia Xia, press this against your lower abdomen to warm up.”

Wen Xia already felt much better. “Thank you, Yan Yan.”

Jiang Yan pinched her cheek and said with a smile, “No thanks allowed. We’re best friends.”

At that moment, Qi Yu returned, glanced briefly at Wen Xia lying on her desk, and left again.

Not long after, Liu An’an returned, slightly out of breath. “Xia Xia, are you feeling better?”

“Much better, An’an.” Seeing the brown sugar in Liu An’an’s hand, Wen Xia felt a wave of warmth in her heart. “Thank you, An’an.”

Liu An’an playfully rolled her eyes and laughed. “Thank me? Call me the best An’an in the whole world instead! Hahaha!”

“An’an, you’re so shameless,” Jiang Yan teased, poking her in the waist.

After drinking the brown sugar water, Wen Xia’s stomach pain had mostly subsided.

Just then, Qi Yu returned. He handed her a fully charged hand warmer and said, “Here.” Without another word, he went back to his seat and started playing games.

Jiang Yan and Liu An’an exchanged a look and chuckled. Liu An’an leaned in and whispered, “Xia Xia, why not just go for it? Hehe.”

Wen Xia tugged lightly at her, thinking to herself that if she ever cheated, Qin Mo would probably tear her apart.

The downside of school was that whenever a girl took leave from running, everyone immediately knew what was going on.

Xu Min took the initiative to bring her hot water during the break, He Sheng wiped the blackboard for her during his cleaning duty, and Jiang Xu bought several packs of brown sugar for her.

By the second physics class in the afternoon, Wen Xia had a bad feeling. She shifted uncomfortably in her seat, trying to confirm.

It was true—she had stains.

Embarrassed, she glanced down at her light-colored jeans. It wasn’t easy to bring it up during class, especially since Cao Jun was writing on the board. Quietly, she took out her phone and sent a message to Qin Mo:

[Husband, it leaked during class. What should I do?]

After years of marriage, she’d learned that for any problem, big or small, the answer was to call her husband.

Everything would be resolved.

Qin Mo replied almost instantly: [Hold on until the end of class. I’ll be there right away.]

Wen Xia quickly responded: [No need. I’ll take leave after class and head back to the dorm.]

Qin Mo didn’t reply this time. Instead, during his PE class, he approached the sports teacher, explaining that there was an emergency at home and he needed to leave.

With a reputation as a top student, any excuse Qin Mo gave was always trusted by the teachers. The PE teacher kindly responded, “Go ahead. I’ll notify the gate guard for you.”

“Thank you, teacher,” Qin Mo said sincerely.

Once he left the school gates, he hailed a cab. “Driver, please take me to the nearest shopping mall.”

“Got it.”

The driver nodded and, upon arriving at the mall, Qin Mo headed straight to the fourth floor to a women’s store. Under the astonished and somewhat awkward gazes of the shop assistants, he picked out two pairs of women’s underwear and paid for them without hesitation.

Wen Xia felt like this class was the longest one she’d ever experienced. With her head buried in her notes, she was also preoccupied with planning how to stand up after class without anyone noticing the mishap.

Toward the end of the period, the classroom grew a little noisy, as if something was happening.

Unintentionally glancing toward the window, Wen Xia saw Qin Mo standing outside in a thick black coat. He gestured to her with his hand, signaling her not to worry. Instantly, the overwhelming sense of embarrassment she’d been feeling began to fade.

Cao Jun noticed Qin Mo too. Smiling, he addressed the class, “I get your excitement about seeing a handsome guy, but let’s hold on for just a few more minutes. Physics problems are quite charming too.”

The whole class burst into laughter.

After the bell rang, Cao Jun left the classroom and noticed the clothes Qin Mo was holding. “Ah, Qin Mo, bringing clothes for Wen Xia?”

“Yes, Teacher Cao,” Qin Mo replied politely.

“Go ahead,” Cao Jun said, walking off with his books.

Qin Mo knocked lightly on the classroom door before stepping in. His demeanor was calm and courteous as he approached He Sheng. “Excuse me, could you move for a moment? Thank you.”

He Sheng nodded and stepped aside. Qin Mo then pulled out a long black padded coat from the bag. In his deep, magnetic voice, he said, “Weren’t you cold? Put this on.”

A girl in the class whispered softly, “Oh my gosh, he’s so handsome.”

Wen Xia quickly took off her short padded jacket and put on the long one. Then, looking at Qin Mo, she blinked her eyes at him, silently signaling.

Understanding immediately, Qin Mo took out a cushion from the bag and handed it to her. “Use this as a seat. It’ll be warmer.”

Only after all this was done did Wen Xia finally let out a relieved sigh.

The two left the classroom together and headed toward the dormitory. Along the way, many girls cast admiring glances at Qin Mo.

Wrapped in her long coat, Wen Xia looked up at the boy beside her, her eyes sparkling. In a quiet, playful tone, she said, “Husband, you’re the best.”

“Good, then go dance your square dance,” Qin Mo said, raising an eyebrow as he looked at her.

Wen Xia: “…”

She promptly swallowed her earlier words.

After informing the dormitory auntie, the auntie glanced at her, then at Qin Mo. “Boys are not allowed inside.”

Qin Mo handed the bag of items to Wen Xia. “I bought everything you need for a change.”

Wen Xia took the bag, nodded, and tugged on his sleeve. “Will you wait for me? I’ll be quick.”

“I’ll wait. Take your time. Pack your dirty clothes for me to take home and wash.”

Once she went inside, Qin Mo pulled out his phone to check a message from Zhao Zichuan, who had asked if everything was okay and if he needed any help.

Qin Mo replied simply, [It’s fine. All sorted.]

A few minutes later, Wen Xia came back downstairs. She had changed into black pants and paired them with the long black padded coat, making her look adorably petite.

She handed the bag of dirty clothes to Qin Mo. “The pants shouldn’t be scrubbed, okay?”

“Got it.”

Taking the bag, Qin Mo reached out to pat her head. “Does your stomach still hurt?”

“No, it only hurt a little in the morning.” Wen Xia suddenly remembered something and pulled a red apple from her coat pocket. “Here, a reward for my husband.”

Qin Mo chuckled, accepting the apple as his eyes locked on her lips. “Husband wants a kiss.”

Wen Xia glanced around. Seeing no one nearby, she quickly stood on her tiptoes and kissed him.

The dormitory auntie emerged from her little office, clearing her throat as a subtle reminder. She didn’t say anything further—she had seen such scenes countless times.

Ah, young love.

Wen Xia’s face turned crimson. Grabbing Qin Mo’s hand, she pulled him away as they ran off together.
