Chapter 2.1: Love Skill 01: Be able to fight

How could Jiang Chi have known that with a random grab, he actually ended up taking Qin Yan away?

He hadn’t finished reading the novel, so naturally he didn’t know that Qin Yan was only pretending to be unconscious.

Jiang Chi assumed the person he had taken was Ji Yu. Completely unguarded around the protagonist shou, he confessed everything about his transmigration without holding back.

Jiang Chi said, “I’m from another world. This world is a novel.”

Qin Yan’s eyes moved slightly. “A novel?”

Jiang Chi replied, “It’s a boys love novel. The main characters are you and Qin Yan.”

Qin Yan’s expression became rather strange. His brows were full of doubt, as if he had started questioning Jiang Chi’s mental state. His hand rested on the car door handle, looking ready to escape at any moment.

“Me and Qin Yan?” Qin Yan repeated.

Jiang Chi locked the car door. “Yes. After you married Qin Yan, he woke up very soon.”

Qin Yan: “……”

At that point, Qin Yan finally understood what was going on.

Jiang Chi had mistaken him for Ji Yu?

A trace of amusement appeared on Qin Yan’s face. “And how are you so sure I’m Ji Yu?”

Jiang Chi answered confidently, “The book said the shou is very good-looking, so I recognized you at a glance.”

Qin Yan’s eyebrows twitched slightly, and he asked tentatively, “And in the book… what does it say about the other protagonist?”

Jiang Chi didn’t think much of the question. It wasn’t strange for Ji Yu to be curious about Qin Yan.

Qin Yan had always lived abroad and kept a low profile. There were plenty of speculations in the country about this young family head, but very few people had actually seen him.

In the novel, the two main characters also met for the first time on their wedding night.

Jiang Chi thought for a moment and answered honestly, “He has a mental illness.”

Qin Yan’s expression froze slightly. He turned his head very slowly—very slowly—staring tightly at Jiang Chi, and spoke word by word:

“You. Said. What?”

Jiang Chi looked completely innocent. “It’s true! He’s extremely controlling, ruthless, and even hits people! But I can teach you self-defense—next time he dares to hit you, you hit him back.”

Qin Yan took a deep breath. He had no idea who out there had started the rumor that he hits people. He defended himself in a veiled way: “How come I’ve never heard that Qin Yan hits people?”

Jiang Chi looked at him with eyes full of concern, his tone gentle. “You can’t judge a book by its cover. Qin Yan is very scheming. You don’t know him well, how much could you possibly know about what he’s really like?”

Qin Yan’s face was expressionless. “Then what do you know about him? Care to share?”

“I don’t like talking about people behind their backs, but this Qin Yan…”

Jiang Chi trailed off, clearly holding back but somehow managing to imply everything without saying a word.

Qin Yan wished he could strangle Jiang Chi on the spot, but his tone remained calm—so calm it was almost unsettling, even laced with a touch of polite curiosity: “Go on.”

Jiang Chi let out a long sigh. “Look, even though he’s young, he’s already been the head of the family for six years. Just imagine how deep his schemes must run.”

Qin Yan’s lips tightened. “Do tell.”

Jiang Chi said, “Qin Yan is calculating and vengeful. When provoked, he might seem calm on the outside, but inside he’s already thought up a hundred nasty ways to get back at you. If you’re going to date someone like him, you really need some tactics. Otherwise, someone as straightforward as you? You wouldn’t even know how you died.”

Hearing this, the expression on Qin Yan’s face became even more unreadable.

“So that’s how it is,” Qin Yan said coolly. “You really do seem to know Qin Yan well.”

On the drive to the hotel, Jiang Chi gave a quick summary of the novel’s key plot points—but deliberately left out the final ending, where one dies and the other goes mad.

That ending was just too cruel.

In the end, Jiang Chi summed it up simply: “It’s a melodramatic, heart-wrenching love story.”

Qin Yan’s expression didn’t change as he offered a different perspective. “Unlawful imprisonment, restriction of personal freedom, marital r*pe, stalking, surveillance, assault… Rather than a romance novel, I’d say this sounds more like Qin Yan’s criminal record.”

Jiang Chi shook his head. “What can you do? That’s just how the author wrote it. The comments section was a total bloodbath—lots of readers demanded a different gong, but the author insisted: forcefully breaking apart a canon couple invites divine retribution.”

A different ‘gong’?

Hearing a term he didn’t understand, Qin Yan’s eyes flickered with confusion. “What do you mean by ‘changing the gong’?”

Jiang Chi gripped the steering wheel and turned the car into the hotel driveway, following the GPS. “Uh… it just means replacing the main top character.”

Qin Yan glanced at the hotel sign. “Are you sure you want to stay at this hotel? It’s owned by the Qin family.”

Jiang Chi jumped in surprise and yanked the steering wheel hard.

The cobalt-blue Lamborghini drifted sharply, the front end whipping around at an unbelievable speed, and in the blink of an eye, it shot out of the hotel grounds.

As the car’s speed surged, so did Qin Yan’s heart rate.

What family driver would dare drive like this? For a second, Qin Yan genuinely thought he was on a spaceship.

“Are you a race car driver?” Qin Yan checked the seatbelt across his chest. “I’ve never seen anyone pull off a U-turn like that.”

Jiang Chi pulled up a new hotel on the GPS. “When someone’s in danger, they can tap into amazing potential. That’s my first time driving like that.”

A flicker of murderous intent passed through Qin Yan’s eyes. “……”

Out of the corner of his eye, Jiang Chi glanced at Qin Yan, and for some reason, he felt a chill run down his spine. But when he looked again, Qin Yan’s expression was calm and indifferent, betraying nothing.

Maybe it was just his imagination.

Jiang Chi drove to another hotel.

As the car entered the gate, the security guards on both sides bowed respectfully, and a staff member stepped forward to personally guide them.

At the main entrance, two rows of hotel staff stood neatly in place, waiting to welcome them.

The doorman opened the car door for Jiang Chi, and as he stepped out, both rows of hotel staff bowed in unison.

“Second Young Master!”

Jiang Chi: “???”

Qin Yan also got out of the car, looking thoughtful. “So, you’re the second young master of the Jiang family.”

Jiang Chi: “……”

‘Oh. So I’m the second young master of the Jiang family.’

Jiang Chi tried to recall any descriptions of the “Jiang family” in the novel.

By all logic, since the surname Jiang matched his own, if there had been a character named Jiang in the story, he should have noticed. But frustratingly, even as the elevator reached the top floor, he couldn’t remember a single relevant plot detail.

Forget it—he’d just take things one step at a time.

The top floor of the hotel wasn’t open to the public; instead, it held two loft apartments.

When Jiang Chi unlocked one of them with his fingerprint, his identity was finally confirmed.

So, he really had transmigrated into the Jiang family’s second young master. That was… actually kind of interesting.

In his original world, Jiang Chi was also the second son—he had an older brother named Jiang Feng.

Thinking of his family back home, a hint of sadness flashed in Jiang Chi’s eyes.

Beep. The door lock clicked open.

The moment he touched the security door, fragmented memories suddenly flickered through his mind.

Like lightning across the sky, the flashes of memory were gone almost as quickly as they came—too fast for him to catch.

The door opened. Standing in the spacious living room was a tall, imposing man.

The man’s face darkened slightly upon seeing him. “You still remember to come home?”

Jiang Chi was stunned.

The man in front of him was tall and upright, exuding a commanding presence—and he looked exactly like Jiang Chi’s older brother in the real world!

How could this be? It was like his thoughts had summoned him. This was too bizarre!

Jiang Chi blurted out in shock, “Big Brother?”

The Jiang Chi of this world looked about 80–90% like himself, and now there was even a version of his brother here too. What was going on? Was this some kind of parallel universe?

Otherwise, how could any of this make sense?

When Jiang Chi called him “big brother,” Jiang Feng’s expression softened a little—but the moment he saw Jiang Chi had brought someone home with him, his face darkened even more.

Jiang Feng clenched his fists and said coldly, word by word: “Jiang Chi, you really are a dog who can’t stop eating shit.”

Still stunned from earlier, Jiang Chi blinked and asked, “What?”

Jiang Feng let out a cold laugh and turned to Qin Yan.

“This gentleman—may I ask your name?”

Qin Yan didn’t answer. Instead, he looked over at Jiang Chi.

Jiang Chi was completely confused. He had no idea why his brother was so angry just because he brought a friend home.

He used to invite buddies over all the time. Why was it such a big deal now?

Jiang Chi said, “Big brother, this is… a friend of mine. His surname is Ji.”

Jiang Feng ignored him. He looked straight at Qin Yan and said seriously, “I’m sorry, sir. I don’t know how Jiang Chi tricked you into coming here, but I can assure you—whatever he told you, he’s said the exact same things to countless others. He’s a complete scumbag. A con artist when it comes to relationships.”

Jiang Chi: “?????”

He frowned instinctively. “I’m a scumbag?”

“If you’re not a scumbag, are you some kind of saint of love?”

Jiang Feng’s tone turned icy, his voice sharp. “Do you even remember how many ‘true loves’ you’ve brought home over the past few years? You fall for someone new every time you meet them. How many hearts have you broken? You’ve played through every wealthy family in Wuchuan, and now you’re moving on to people outside that circle?”

Jiang Chi: “……”

That was… a lot of information to take in. But now he finally understood what was going on.

He had transmigrated into a full-blown playboy! An emotionally reckless womanizer!

This was beyond unfair!

That kind of messy love life? Absolutely not something Jiang Chi could ever pull off.

From childhood to now, he’d never even been in a proper relationship. How could he have had any “true loves”? Falling for someone new every time? That was insane.

Jiang Chi swore, there was not a single strand of flirtatious DNA in his entire genetic makeup. He didn’t even read polyamorous romance novels, so how could he possibly live like a romantic octopus in real life?

This was so unjust—it made the wronged Dou E look lucky in comparison!

Jiang Feng had no idea what Jiang Chi was thinking, but the more he spoke, the angrier he became: “This morning, your ex even showed up at the company. What on earth is going on with you?”

Jiang Chi had no words to respond. He wished he knew what was going on. With no better option, he had to pull out the all-purpose excuse for transmigrators—

Amnesia.

He rubbed his temples and feigned a headache: “Big Brother, I hit my head this morning, and now I can’t remember a lot of things. Please stop scolding me.”

Jiang Feng’s handsome face tensed up, his eyes full of mockery: “What now? You’ve lost your memory again?”

Jiang Chi: “?????”

What do you mean ‘again’? Did the original owner also have amnesia before?

Jiang Feng didn’t want to hear any more explanations. He crossed his arms in front of his chest, his tone cold: “Jiang Chi, I’m so disappointed in you.”

Jiang Chi: “Big Brother…”

“Don’t call me ‘Big Brother.’ I don’t have a little brother like you.” The fury on Jiang Feng’s face had faded, leaving only bleakness behind — the wreckage after countless disappointments.

His voice was low. It wasn’t clear if he was speaking to Jiang Chi or to himself: “Jiang Chi, you’re never going to change.”

Jiang Chi didn’t know how to explain.

Ever since he transmigrated into the book, everything had been a blur — a lot of things were still unclear.

In this situation, even if it wasn’t his fault, he had no choice but to take the blame for what the original owner had done.

Jiang Chi understood his brother’s temper and said, “Big Brother, I swear I’ll change this time. Just watch me.”

Jiang Feng said coldly, “Your idea of change is bringing home an even more handsome boyfriend?”

Jiang Chi looked sincere: “He’s really not my boyfriend.”

Jiang Feng looked at Qin Yan and asked, “Sir, is that true?”

Qin Yan nodded.

Seeing this, Jiang Feng’s expression finally softened.

His younger brother had far too many past offenses. In the circle of rich second-generation heirs, he was infamous for being a playboy—chasing anyone he laid eyes on, with so many exes they couldn’t be counted.

The ex who showed up at the company today was particularly clingy. Jiang Feng had just spent money out of his own pocket to clean up the mess, and then turned around to find Jiang Chi bringing another person home. His anger surged before he could even ask about the relationship between the two and he exploded on the spot.

Although Jiang Feng had a bad temper, he wasn’t overbearing or unreasonable.

Now, filled with guilt, he looked apologetically at Qin Yan: “I’m truly sorry you had to see that. My brother really gives me no peace of mind…”

Qin Yan said calmly, “No need to be so polite, Mr. Jiang. Jiang Chi is a good person. He was worried I’d suffer domestic violence after getting married, so he rushed to the wedding venue today to get me out.”

Jiang Chi: “……”

Jiang Feng: “???”
