Chapter 140: The Territorial Border

Cheng Qisheng was also watching the rescue team assemble.

From her vantage point, she could see far more than the mere tip of the iceberg that Zhang Xiongyuan had glimpsed.

This time, Blue Sea’s rescue operation involved not only a large number of vehicles and an arsenal of guns and artillery, but also an extraordinary force of roughly two thousand ability users.

The main reason for such an enormous show of force was, of course, that an expert researching life-extension technology was extremely important to Blue Sea at this point.

Over the past hundred years, whenever the Broken River family rose to prominence, the land belonged to Broken River. Whenever the Tata family rose to prominence, it belonged to Tata.

Most of the time, the two sides simply insisted on their own claims, each firmly convinced that the region known as Tu’ao belonged to them.

Neither side normally thought much of the territory.

But the moment one side received word that the other had entered Tu’ao, the opposing side would immediately rush over to seize the territory as well.

Although the Lord of Broken River had been seduced by profit and looked like someone who was easy to fool, he had his own little schemes too.

When the territory was originally divided up and three-fifths of it was given to Blue Sea, he had deliberately included the area bordering the Tata Wasteland in the territory he handed over.

Cheng Qisheng could guarantee that after the Lord of Broken River had done this, he had absolutely been rubbing his hands in anticipation, secretly hoping that [Ota] and the Lord of Tata would end up fighting.

For now, all they could do was hope everything went smoothly.

The instant she heard that people from Broken River had arrived in Tu’ao, she was furious.
