Chapter 50.1: She Looks More Like a Robber Than the Robbers!

Just before the bullet was fired, Lu Yixing still shifted the muzzle slightly.

‘Bang—!’

With the crack of the gunshot, a spray of blood instantly burst from the right shoulder of the young robber charging forward with a knife in hand.

A tearing pain shot from his shoulder straight into his brain. It felt as though thousands upon thousands of steel needles had pierced every inch of his muscles, bone marrow, and even nerves at once. His entire arm began spasming uncontrollably, while the hand gripping the knife handle started to tremble. The next second, the short knife slipped from his grasp and clattered to the floor.

Without giving him time to cover the wound, Lu Yixing quickly stepped forward and swung his leg in a powerful roundhouse kick, striking the young robber squarely in the abdomen.

“Ugh!”

A sharp pain instantly erupted in the young robber’s stomach. The enormous force sent him staggering sideways, and with a loud clang, he slammed into the wall of the train carriage.

Countless sparks exploded before his eyes, only for his vision to suddenly turn white. In an instant, he could see nothing at all. All that remained was wave after wave of excruciating pain surging through his shoulder, abdomen, and back. The pain was so intense that he could barely breathe, let alone make another move.

Both robbers had temporarily lost their ability to fight.

Lu Yixing immediately assessed their condition. He casually glanced toward Jiang Xia, who was farther behind him. Seeing that the scissors had struck the scar-faced robber squarely in the chest and that the man was still slowly collapsing, he immediately turned his gaze away.

He didn’t pause. He turned around at once.

The entire struggle had lasted an extremely short time—barely more than ten seconds.

The two armed robbers stationed at the entrances to the aisles on either side had never imagined that anyone would dare resist.

They had been completely focused on preventing the passengers from escaping and keeping an eye out for when the railway police would arrive. It wasn’t until they heard their boss shout that they turned their heads.

But when they saw their boss go down right before their eyes, both of them froze for several seconds.

Only then did one of them finally react and rush over to stop these two passengers who had dared to fight back.

“Quick! Kill him!”

The robber on the left raised his knife and shouted as he hurried forward, “Fourth! Fifth! What are you standing around for? Get in there!”

“Ah, coming, coming!”

Hearing the order, the two robbers at the right-hand aisle entrance also charged over with their melee weapons.

The robbers on both sides quickly closed in on the two of them.

Lu Yixing had only one gun, yet there were people coming from both sides.

As he held the pistol and delivered a side kick, countless calculations flashed rapidly through his mind.

The pistol the robbers carried was a Type 64, a military pistol independently developed domestically. It was small and lightweight, with good reliability and accuracy. It used a seven-round single-stack magazine and was far more practical than the more powerful Type 54, which was notorious for jamming.

And his years of experience handling firearms told him that there should still be bullets in the gun, but most likely not many—perhaps only two or three.

He had to focus on intimidation, with killing as a secondary option.

Having settled on his tactic, Lu Yixing raised the pistol and aimed at the robber on the left, who had already charged within close range.

He pulled the trigger again.

‘Bang!’

Another gunshot rang out.

The faint smell of gunpowder and smoke drifted through the air. Flesh and fabric burst open once more at the robber’s shoulder, blooming into another spray of blood.

Lu Yixing didn’t bother with him further. He immediately turned around.

He saw Jiang Xia turning around at the same time, looking straight at him.

There was still a trace of blood on her right hand. Her entire demeanor was unnaturally cold, and her eyes were like those of a wild beast ready to pounce on its prey. Beneath it all was a faint excitement and delight—as though she had just successfully completed a hunt.

As if he had encountered some kind of natural enemy, an intense sense of danger made Lu Yixing’s heart suddenly race for a beat.

Hmm?

Was something wrong with Jiang Xia’s state?

The two robbers on the right had already reached them. Lu Yixing had no time to think about it. He couldn’t even stop Jiang Xia and tell her to calm down.

Instead, he needed her to keep fighting alongside him.

He took a deep breath and quickly said,

“I’ll leave this side to you!”

With that, Lu Yixing raised the gun again. Stepping past the young robber who was struggling to get back on his feet, he aimed at the two robbers charging toward them and barked sharply,

“Stop! Get down and put your hands on your head, or I’ll shoot!”

Robbery was a business where you literally put your head on the line. Either you pulled off one big score and could spend the rest of your life enjoying yourself, or you died—and in another twenty years, you’d be a hero again in the next life.

Fourth and Fifth had long since prepared themselves mentally for that possibility. Both considered themselves fearless enough to die. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have dared charge forward after seeing a passenger take their gun.

But now, faced with Lu Yixing’s murderous aura and the dark muzzle of his gun, their legs inexplicably began to go weak.

This man definitely wasn’t ordinary!

He must have been handling guns for years, and he had definitely killed people before. Otherwise, how could he pick up a gun and immediately point it at someone without hesitation?

And his shooting was definitely incredibly accurate. He had been moving around so much just now, yet both shots had still landed precisely in the right shoulder.

If they charged him, they wouldn’t be able to hurt him. If they went any further, he would definitely shoot them dead on the spot!

The two men hesitated.

If there were even a one-in-ten chance of taking the gun away, they would still dare to rush him and give it a shot.

But if charging forward meant certain death, then it really wasn’t worth it.

Then they looked at their three bosses already lying on the ground, and a wave of sorrow suddenly welled up inside them.

‘God, all they wanted to do was rob a train! How had they run into such a ruthless bastard right after starting out?!’

‘Was Heaven really trying to kill them off?!’

With that thought, although the two robbers were still holding their weapons and facing off against Lu Yixing, making them look incredibly brazen, they had actually begun wavering toward surrender.

Lu Yixing immediately noticed their weakening resolve. He repeated himself at once,

“Your boss is already dead. The railway police will be here any moment. Put down your weapons and surrender now, and you can still receive lenient treatment!”

The two robbers exchanged a glance.

In the end, they threw down their weapons, then skillfully kicked them over to Lu Yixing’s feet.

After that, they raised both hands and assumed a posture of surrender.

Jiang Xia, meanwhile, had already stepped forward before Lu Yixing even finished giving his instructions.

The young robber was surprisingly tough. After recovering for a few moments, he gradually regained consciousness. He struggled to reach for the knife with his left hand, still wanting to fight back.

But before he could even touch it, Jiang Xia had already grabbed him by the hair.

She yanked his head over and slammed it hard against the metal bar of the folding seat beside the train wall.

Then she slammed it again.

‘Clang! Clang!’

Watching this, Guo Qingshan felt like even his teeth hurt.

Handing over the gun just now had seemingly drained every ounce of strength from him, and his legs were still trembling uncontrollably. Seeing Lu Yixing simply pull the trigger without hesitation had already been terrifying enough.

He hadn’t expected there to be another ruthless one!

The robber was taller than Jiang Xia, yet after she had stabbed him, she came striding over with an icy aura radiating from her entire body. She grabbed the young robber by the hair and repeatedly smashed his head against the wall, as though she wasn’t hitting a person’s head at all, but a vicious beast that was trying to bite her.

Hearing the impacts and seeing blood appear on the man’s head, Guo Qingshan’s scalp went numb. A shudder ran from his back all the way through his limbs.

‘Good grief! How is this girl even more vicious than that man?!’

‘This is terrifying!’

Jiang Xia released her grip.

She felt those two blows had been just right. He was definitely dazed, and she’d probably injured his brain too. In any case, the young robber had now been granted a baby-like sleep and certainly wouldn’t be waking up anytime soon to resist again.

Jiang Xia casually picked up the short knife and skillfully twirled it through the air.

She stepped forward again and glared at the robber in front, whose arm had been injured but who had somehow managed to raise his knife again, as well as the robber behind him, who was holding an iron rod but hesitating and unwilling to advance.

She shouted sternly,

“Your boss is dead. You two aren’t getting away either. Put down your weapons and surrender now to receive lenient treatment. Otherwise, you’re going to be waiting for the firing squad!”

‘This woman is terrifying!’

For an instant, the shot robber felt as though he had been targeted by a vicious beast ready to tear him apart. Clutching his injured arm, he instinctively took a step backward.

‘Who the hell are the robbers here?!’

No, wait.

‘Even robbers aren’t this savage!’

This woman was way too ruthless. And now she had a knife, while his right arm was practically useless. How could he possibly beat her?!

Even though there really was a woman with a short knife standing right in front of him, and he still had a partner beside him holding an iron rod, the shot robber’s courage instantly collapsed.

Once his resolve crumbled, his fighting spirit disappeared with it, and his body went limp.

His hand loosened, and he skillfully dropped the weapon he’d just picked up.

“I—I surrender.”

Jiang Xia didn’t advance any farther. Maintaining a safe distance to keep him intimidated, she ordered firmly,

“Two people from the lower bunks in Compartment Four, come out! Kick the knife over here, then use your belts to tie him up!”

The passengers in this carriage were all ordinary people. The moment they saw the robbers, they had already panicked. None of them could have imagined such a dramatic reversal happening in the middle of it all. Their minds were even more scrambled now.

And everything had happened so quickly that they hadn’t had time to react at all, much less figure out what they were supposed to do.

But the moment they heard Jiang Xia’s clear instructions, the two passengers in the lower bunks of Compartment Four immediately found their bearings.

Even with another robber still standing behind them holding a knife, they summoned their courage and stepped out. One kicked the long knife over to Jiang Xia, while the other pinned down the robber and began tying him up.

Another passenger from Compartment Four soon came out to help as well.

Jiang Xia quickly crouched down and picked up the knife. Keeping her eyes fixed on the robber holding the iron rod, she pointed the blade forward and continued to keep him at bay.

“And you! Put down your weapon and surrender!”

The robber instinctively took two steps backward. His hand trembled, and the iron rod slipped from his grasp with a ‘clatter’.

He looked at his fallen boss and his restrained accomplice. He knew the situation was hopeless now, and only one thought remained in his mind.

‘Escape. He had to escape!’

He absolutely couldn’t let this woman catch him.

No—he couldn’t let the railway police catch him!

The robber turned his head and saw that the window beside him was open.

It instantly looked like a lifeline.

Without the slightest hesitation, he grabbed the window frame, pushed off with his foot, stepped onto the folding seat, and jumped straight out.

‘Holy crap?!’

The sudden turn of events caught Jiang Xia completely off guard.

Jumping out of a moving train?

Even if the old green trains weren’t traveling very fast these days—only around forty or fifty kilometers per hour—jumping out like that would probably either kill him or leave him half-dead. This robber was really going all out just to avoid getting caught.

‘Tsk. Gotta give him credit for courage, but it won’t do him much good.’

‘I remember your face, though.’

Jiang Xia thought to herself.

“Quick! Tie him up!”

The passengers on both sides finally snapped out of their daze. Quite a few of them bravely came forward, some pinning the robbers down while others hurriedly pulled off their belts and tied them up.

Seeing that all the robbers had been subdued, Lu Yixing put his gun away.

To prevent another bout of chaos, he temporarily picked up the cloth bag containing the money instead of immediately telling the passengers to retrieve the belongings that had been stolen.

He then turned and walked over to Jiang Xia.

“Jiang Xia, are you okay?”

Killing someone might sound simple, but in reality, it required an extremely strong psychological constitution. After all, when faced with a living, breathing human being, it was difficult for an ordinary person to bring themselves to kill.

Even if a crisis forced someone to prepare themselves mentally and take action, the various sights and sensations that came with witnessing another human being die could still place enormous psychological pressure on them afterward.

Lu Yixing suspected that Jiang Xia was now in an extremely negative mental state and urgently needed psychological counseling.

But the moment he finished speaking, hurried footsteps came from the end of the aisle.

Three railway police officers and four train attendants came running over. The railway police were at the front, each carrying a gun.

Chief Railway Police Officer Zhao Weiguo was leading the group.

When he’d heard a passenger run over and report that several robbers had boarded Carriage Thirteen and were carrying out a robbery—with one of them even having a gun—his ears had gone numb, and he had nearly felt all the strength drain from his body.

‘This is bad.’
