Chapter 20: The Three People in Black (2)
In fact, from the first time she saw her in the elevator, she felt that this girl, who was about the same age as her, had many secrets.
She was curious, but she didn’t dare to get close easily.
Later, at school, when she saw the girl take away the black cat she often fed and call it “Xiao Bu,” she realized that they were from the same school.
What a wonderful coincidence, being in the same school, living in the same neighborhood, and even possibly on the same floor.
Shi Xing was lost in thought, her steps unconsciously following behind the girl as she walked slowly.
It wasn’t that she wanted to follow her, but she was also going home.
Shi Xing followed Su Mu for a while, and suddenly saw three people in black robes surround her.
Her heart skipped a beat, and her already pale face turned even paler.
“Thud!” The convenience bag in her hand fell to the ground.
…
Su Mu looked calmly at the three people in front of her.
She knew all three of them—Meng Nian and her two roommates.
At this moment, the three were wearing black robes with large hoods that covered part of their faces.
At first glance, it was somewhat scary, but Su Mu, who often dressed this way, immediately saw through it—they were imitating Witch Shanshan’s attire.
The knot on the black robe was exactly the same as the one she wore during her last live stream.
“Su Mu, right?” Meng Nian asked coldly.
“You’ve got the wrong person.” Su Mu looked at them indifferently.
“Stop pretending! I’ve seen your photo! Just now, your classmates also said it was you!” Wang Jun, who had been bribed by Meng Nian again, said unceremoniously.
Su Mu didn’t say anything, just looked at them coldly.
“What are you looking at? Never seen Witch Shanshan’s outfit before?” the last person said proudly. “Meng Nian spent a lot of money on this! Someone as poor as you couldn’t afford it no matter how envious you are!”
“…Su Mu.”
“Why aren’t you talking?” Meng Nian’s tone was condescending. “Su Mu, I don’t want to make things difficult for you. I’ll give you a chance. If you can do what I ask, I’ll reluctantly give you a Shanshan identical outfit. How about that?”
Su Mu: “…”
Su Mu: “Shanshan’s identical outfit?”
“That’s right! Surprised, huh?” Wang Jun lifted her chin. “A witch’s identical outfit!”
She took out her phone and opened a shopping app. “You probably don’t know, right? Take a good look! See what the witch’s identical outfit sells for?”
Su Mu looked closely and saw the link for the “Witch Shanshan Identical Robe,” priced at… 100,000 yuan, with sales over 100,000 units.
“…” She remained silent.
“Hmph! How about that? Envious? This is just the first day, and the price keeps rising! Someone like you, who can’t even afford tuition, will never be able to get one unless you help Niannian out,” Wang Jun said, stroking her own robe with pride.
“Enough!” Meng Nian interrupted her, arrogantly. “So, will you agree?”
“What do you want me to do?” Su Mu asked.
She had never had any interactions with these people. Why had they suddenly approached her?
And they were wearing… seemingly intimidating “witch robes.”
“It’s simple, stay away from Feng Sa. You’re not good enough for him, and I don’t want to hear any more rumors about the two of you,” Meng Nian said disdainfully. “You two aren’t from the same world. Don’t think that just because he helped you out once, he really likes you!”
Su Mu glanced at Meng Nian’s expression. “So, you like him?”
Meng Nian sneered, “That’s none of your business—especially for someone who just got rejected by Qi Sui a few days ago! If you keep being stubborn, I won’t let you off!”
After speaking, the three of them stared coldly at Su Mu, their black witch robes making them look like malicious spirits from hell in the twilight.
Su Mu’s gaze turned cold. “How do you plan on not letting me off?”
Meng Nian smirked, an icy aura that shouldn’t be present in a student lowering the surrounding temperature.
She spoke slowly, “There are many ways. The most straightforward method—getting you expelled. Su Mu, you wouldn’t want to lose your education, right?”
In a student’s life, this was indeed a terrifying threat. Moreover, Su Mu had barely made it into this school as one of the bottom students. If she got expelled, she might not be able to attend any school.
After hearing Meng Nian’s words, Su Mu’s eyes remained calm, her expression indifferent. “I understand.”
In that case, I’ll make sure you lose your schooling first.
“It’s good that you understand…” Meng Nian was satisfied. She was about to say more when a sudden force pushed her, causing her to stumble.
A girl with twin braids suddenly rushed in, grabbed Su Mu’s hand, and started running.
Su Mu was taken aback.
The girl didn’t speak, her face pale, but she held Su Mu’s hand with great strength. Her braids bounced as they ran.
The two of them ran forward in the summer evening breeze.
Su Mu could sense the girl’s unease and heard her rapid breathing.
“You…” Su Mu’s cool voice carried hesitation.
The girl glanced back, then turned to Su Mu with a gentle smile. “It looks like they’re not chasing us.”
Su Mu blinked.
They ran until they reached their neighborhood, then finally stopped.
“Whew… Are you okay?” The girl panted, bending over in exhaustion.
“I’m fine, thank you.” Su Mu looked at her face. “Are you alright?”
She looked like she might faint at any moment.
“I’m fine,” the girl waved her hand. “Don’t be scared by my complexion; I’m always like this.”
“Hmm…” Su Mu quietly observed the girl for a couple of seconds before speaking in a calm voice. “I’m Su Mu. Thank you for your help. Let me treat you to dinner tonight.”
“Um…” The girl with the twin braids hesitated but then said, “Okay! I’m Shi Xing. Nice to meet you.”
She smiled and extended her hand, her eyes twinkling with a lively expression.
“Hello.” Su Mu gently shook her hand.
An adult passing by saw their interaction and smiled unconsciously.
How wonderful, those youthful days when friendships formed without any ulterior motives, pure and beautiful.
“But let’s save the dinner for another day,” Shi Xing said with a bright smile. “You’ve already bought groceries, right? You must be planning to cook at home. I won’t disturb you.”
Su Mu felt a fleeting sense of surprise in her eyes and nodded. “Okay.”
She had planned to take Shi Xing out for dinner because she didn’t want to bring a stranger into her home so quickly, especially since there were some things inside that couldn’t be seen by others.
But unexpectedly, Shi Xing perceptively suggested not to intrude.
—She must have noticed her sense of territory.
