Chapter 193: Yu Family Brothers Extra: Why do you all like men?

In the living room of the Yu family home, Yu Mo, the second eldest, sat on the long sofa, holding his tablet and replying to students’ emails.

Meanwhile, he ignored the greeting messages that kept popping up from a certain priest.

Yu Yan, the third eldest, was lounging on the single armchair next to him, arms crossed, his long legs propped on a footstool as he lazily squinted his eyes.

Yu Le, the fifth brother, sat on the sofa opposite his second brother, resting his chin on his hand in boredom.

“Didn’t the eldest brother say he was going to hold a family meeting? When’s it going to start?” Yu Yan asked.

“What family meeting? Isn’t this just my personal criticism session?” Yu Le muttered, tossing his phone in the air and catching it with two fingers.

“What kind of trouble did you get yourself into this time that made the eldest brother call a family meeting?” Yu Yan nudged his troublemaking younger brother with his foot.

Yu Le shifted, feeling a bit embarrassed, and kept silent.

Yu Mo, busy with his tablet, answered for him: “Eldest brother caught him making out with a man. The guy was one of his colleagues.”

Yu Yan clicked his tongue twice and lazily applauded.

Yu Le huffed softly, leaning against the sofa, muttering, “What’s the eldest brother waiting for? Hurry up and give me the lecture; I’ve got things to do.”

“He’s still at the door going through some documents, trying to figure out what exactly goes on between two men. Let him finish reading,” Yu Mo said.

Yu Yan suddenly burst out laughing, pulling his long legs back and sitting up. “Eldest brother hasn’t encountered anything like this before. How long does he need to read up on it?”

“If he doesn’t know what goes on between two men, he could just ask me directly; no need to read up on it,” Yu Le remarked, bored, poking at his phone.

After crouching by the door reading for a good while, the eldest brother, Yu Guang, finally strode back into the living room.

He sat down next to Yu Mo, his gaze sharp as he stared at Yu Le across from him.

“Little Fifth, do you know what the eldest brother wants to talk to you about?”

“I know, I was wrong, it was my fault. I’ll give you a 10,000-word self-reflection essay by tomorrow,” Yu Le replied smoothly.

“Hold on, don’t rush. I’ve thought carefully about your situation,” Yu Guang said seriously. “Tell me honestly—do you really like men?”

Seeing his eldest brother take on such a serious demeanor, Yu Le had no choice but to think it over: “I haven’t really liked anyone before. I just find this Mo Cunzhi kind of interesting. Eldest Brother, is there really a need to make such a big deal out of it?”

“I understand.” Yu Guang nodded. “When you all turned sixteen, I gave you a talk. I said that you should be responsible men and never play with or hurt women. The same applies even if your partner happens to be male.”

Yu Le: “…”

Yu Guang glanced briefly at some notes on his phone and continued, “Also, when you’re in a relationship, you need to be mindful of safety. Protection is essential.”

“Little Fifth, I think you’re still quite young and should be even more cautious.”

Seeing the look on his third brother’s face, obviously enjoying the show, Yu Le suddenly retorted, “I’m already an adult. How am I too young? Eldest Brother’s only lecturing me, but Third Brother’s boyfriend is around the same age as me.”

Yu Yan, sitting nearby, thought: How did I suddenly get dragged into this?

With Eldest Brother’s gaze turning to him, Yu Yan grabbed a nearby throw pillow and tossed it at Yu Le’s head. “Trying to drag me down with you, huh, kid?”

Eldest Brother looked surprised. “Third Brother, you also like men? And you even have a boyfriend?”

“More than that! His boyfriend is also in college, a few years younger than him. Lately, Third Brother has hardly been home because he’s always staying at his boyfriend’s place!”

Trying to divert attention from himself, Yu Le did his best to throw Third Brother under the bus.

Eldest Brother blinked, clearly struggling to process this information. He rubbed his short hair, then looked over at his second brother for input.

“Second Brother, what do you think?”

Yu Mo put down his tablet, took off his glasses, and set them on top of it.

Before he could speak, Yu Le chimed in again, “Oh, right, Second Brother likes men too, doesn’t he? I even saw him in women’s clothing being held by someone last time. And it was a foreigner, no less.”

Yu Le’s face was full of feigned innocence, but a mischievous glint sparkled in his eyes. When Yu Mo shot him a cold look, Yu Le’s smile faded, and he shrank his neck.

“That was… an accident,” Yu Mo replied. He hadn’t told his family about this incident.

Not long ago, he had been mistaken for some sort of priest by a group of strange cult members. They had kidnapped him for a superstitious ritual and even dressed him in a skirt.

While escaping, he ran into a priest named Peruth from the exorcist association of Country A. After catching those deranged cultists, Peruth insisted on escorting him back to his faculty dormitory.

Apparently, it was during that chaotic moment that Yu Le, the master of sudden appearances, had stumbled upon him.

Yu Le’s attempt at diverting attention was incredibly successful, as Eldest Brother Yu Guang was now too shocked to focus on him. He grabbed Yu Mo by the shoulder, exclaiming, “Second Brother, you too… why didn’t you tell me? Do you even see me as your big brother?”

Yu Mo’s expression remained impassive. “When you registered me in the household, you insisted on changing my age to make me your younger brother. Haven’t I obediently called you Big Brother all these years?”

Yu Guang awkwardly withdrew his hand. “After so many years, why bring that up now?”

Yu Yan, catching the energy of the moment, excitedly plopped down beside Yu Mo, throwing an arm over his shoulder and stirring the pot: “Second Brother, in women’s clothes—I want to see that too!”

Yu Mo pressed his hand against his mischievous brother’s face, shoving him down onto the sofa. “Are you asking for it?”

After all the commotion, Eldest Brother Yu Guang looked across the faces of his three brothers. “So… all of you like men?”

Yu Guang had a thoughtful look on his face, his hands on his knees as he muttered, “Could it be that there was something lacking in my way of raising you all?”

“What’s wrong with it? We’re brothers—it’s normal to share a few similar tastes,” Yu Le replied cheerfully.

Having dropped a few bombs and stirred up enough chaos, Yu Le’s cat-like eyes curved with satisfaction, clearly enjoying the entertainment.

Suddenly, the front door lock turned, drawing everyone’s attention. The door opened to reveal Yu Shi, the fourth brother.

He was standing at the entrance, pushing a large suitcase. Seeing his brothers all gathered in the living room, he looked a bit surprised but quickly smiled. “Everyone’s home, huh?”

Yu Le’s face lit up upon seeing Fourth Brother return. In a lighthearted tone, he called out, “Fourth Brother!”

“Aren’t you working in Nanxin City? How come you’re back all of a sudden?”

“Eldest Brother called me and mentioned there was something going on at home, so I came back since I was free,” Yu Shi replied. He then turned his head to speak to someone behind him, “Come in. I’ll take the suitcase.”

He pushed the door open fully, bringing in two suitcases, revealing a man with long hair and striking features standing behind him.

Yu Shi took a pair of slippers from the shoe cabinet and offered them to the man. “Come in. You can wear my slippers for now.”

The man’s gaze briefly swept over the people in the living room before returning to Yu Shi. He smiled sweetly at him. “Okay.”

After leading him inside, Yu Shi noticed his brothers were still watching them. He introduced the man with a calm smile:

“This is Feng Xuexiang. He’s the person I’ve been looking after in Nanxin City. I had to come back in a hurry, and he insisted on coming with me, so he’ll be staying with me here for a few days.”

Yu Le squinted slightly. “Fourth Brother, is this your friend?”

Yu Shi paused, then answered, “Xuexiang is my partner.”

The atmosphere in the living room grew strange. Eldest Brother Yu Guang, with a deep expression, muttered, “Now it’s four of them.”

Feng Xuexiang, who had been seated on the sofa by Yu Shi, smiled politely at his variously-staring future brothers-in-law, his posture elegant and reserved—almost like a refined young lady.

“Xuexiang, what would you like to drink?” Yu Shi asked.

“Lemon water, please. I want to use your cup,” Xuexiang replied.

As soon as Yu Shi walked away, Yu Le crouched on the sofa, eyeing this “young lady” curiously. “You don’t look like a real person. Who actually looks like this?”

Just then, his head was lightly pushed down—Yu Shi was now standing behind the sofa. “Xuexiang has a good temperament. Don’t bully him, Little Fifth.”

Feng Xuexiang merely laughed graciously, saying, “I don’t mind, Ashi.”

Yu Le’s face darkened.

After a pause, Eldest Brother Yu Guang, who had now adjusted to the current situation, finally put down his phone, pulled out his wallet, and handed some cash to Xuexiang. “Here. Since it’s your first visit and I don’t have a red envelope ready, just take this for now.”

Yu Mo noticed Eldest Brother’s phone screen still showing searches like, “Is it customary to give money when son’s girlfriend visits for the first time?” and “How much is appropriate for a first meeting with the daughter-in-law?” Sighing, Yu Mo pressed a hand to his forehead, unwilling to continue watching this absurd scene.

Having Fourth Brother back home was usually a happy occasion, but somehow, Yu Le couldn’t stand the sight of the person he brought back.

During dinner, Yu Le ate in a sulk, and when it came to the last piece of chicken wing, Fourth Brother didn’t give it to him—he gave it to that Feng Xuexiang!

Seething with frustration, Yu Le felt that Fourth Brother didn’t care about him the most anymore!

With a belly full of resentment, Yu Le grabbed his backpack and slipped out of the house. Kicking stones along the roadside, he pondered who might make a good target to vent his frustration on.

“Are you alright?” A young man with a stern and upright aura stood behind him, his gaze filled with concern.

It was Mo Cunzhi.

After they were caught kissing in a conference room by Eldest Brother, Yu Le had been dragged back home.

Mo Cunzhi, worried Yu Le might get a serious scolding, had hesitated but eventually followed. However, as he neared the Yu family home, he grew concerned that his presence might only make Yu Guang angrier, so he waited around nearby until nightfall.

Seeing Yu Le looking downcast, Mo Cunzhi approached and asked, “Did you get scolded?”

“I could go talk to your Big Brother. I was at fault too.”

Looking at the overly conscientious man in front of him, Yu Le thought, ‘Well, you’re just offering yourself up here, aren’t you?’

“Mo Cunzhi, right? I’m coming to stay at your place.”

“…What?”

“I’m not staying home anymore. I’m moving in with you.”

Yu Le hooked a finger onto Mo Cunzhi’s belt, only to have his hand quickly restrained. He scratched Mo Cunzhi’s palm in retaliation, making him flinch as if shocked.

Feeling a bit better, Yu Le nudged him forward. “Hey, do you have any bedding ready at home? I’m guessing not. C’mon, let’s go buy some first.”

“What kind of bedding?”

“Hahaha, well, it’s not going to be just sheets and pillowcases.”

After dinner, Yu Le slipped away from home, and Yu Yan didn’t stay much longer either.

He left, drove to an apartment complex, took the elevator up, and unlocked the door with his fingerprint, moving with the ease of returning to his own place.

A young man with silver hair emerged from the kitchen. “You seem to be in a good mood today.”

Yu Yan, having just changed his shoes, walked over and ruffled the young man’s silver hair. “I had fun watching a family drama at home. Got me all pumped up.”

“Didn’t you have classes today? What’ve you been up to?”

“I spent some time cleaning the rainforest tank.”

Yu Yan glanced over at the tank that took up half a wall. “Did you modify the island in the center?”

“Yeah, you said the red-eyed hawk lizard was nice, so I bought one. It’s over there,” the silver-haired youth said.

Yu Yan stood by the tank and, sure enough, spotted the little creature on a damp patch of moss.

He reached out to tease it, but the little guy immediately hid.

Used to being ignored by these tiny creatures, Yu Yan sat down in an egg-shaped rattan chair beside the rainforest tank.

This space had long become his personal domain.

With his slippered foot, he nudged the still figure of the silver-haired youth. “Why are you standing there? No homework today?”

“I missed you,” the youth replied with a cold expression, lifting his foot to wedge it between Yu Yan’s legs, squeezing himself into the narrow rattan chair.

“Something came up at school. I need to go,” Yu Mo said after answering a phone call and left the house.

Yu Shi also took Feng Xuexiang out for a walk.

With the door closing behind them, the house fell silent.

Yu Guang sat alone in the living room, suddenly feeling like an empty-nester.

“Hmm? Am I the only one left?” he muttered to himself.
