Chapter 57: Let Me Introduce My Girlfriend, Wen Xia
Wen Xia played along with his words and stuck out her tongue. “Careful, or I’ll eat you out of house and home.”
“Then, Wife, work hard,” Qin Mo said with a smirk, hooking the corner of his lips. He held her hand and slipped it into his pocket.
The students from No.1 Middle School and No.2 Middle School, along with a few teachers, watched the “cousins” cross the street hand in hand.
Pan Sen slung an arm over Zhao Zichuan’s shoulder and clicked his tongue a few times. “Tsk, tsk, tsk. Those cousins have such a great relationship. If I had a cousin as pretty as that, I’d treat her just as well as Qin Mo does.”
Idiot. Hopeless.
Zhao Zichuan rolled his eyes at him in exasperation. Are you blind? Since when do cousins hold hands like that at their age?
Since when are cousins that intimate?
Pinching cheeks, hugging each other…
“What kind of look is that, Zhao Zichuan? Are you jealous? Jealousy makes you so ugly.”
Pan Sen gave him a disdainful glance, then burst out laughing before adding, “Come on, let’s hit the internet cafe for a game. I was going to invite Qin Mo, but he’s busy with his cousin.”
“He’s totally ditching his brothers for a girl.”
Zhao Zichuan rolled his eyes at him again in silent frustration. If you already know he’s ditching his brothers for a girl, why not think of it as something more than cousins?
If Pan Sen had known what Zhao Zichuan was thinking, he probably would have yelled at him. What kind of idiot would think those ‘cousins’ are boyfriend and girlfriend?
…
Wen Xia glanced at the menu, feeling a bit conflicted. She couldn’t decide what to eat. That was just how she was—indecisive, but only when Qin Mo was around.
She shoved the menu toward Qin Mo. “You order.”
Qin Mo, understanding her personality well, said nothing and pointed to several dishes Wen Xia usually liked.
The waitress jotted down their order and kindly suggested, “Today, we have a family combo on promotion. It includes two burgers, two chicken wings, nuggets, and two medium sodas, all for just 45 yuan. It’s much more economical than ordering separately. You two, as siblings, might want to consider it?”
When Qin Mo heard the word “siblings,” he glanced at her, slightly displeased, and pressed his lips together. “Cancel everything we just ordered. We’ll take the couple’s combo instead.”
Couple’s combo?
The waitress was momentarily stunned, and when she realized what he said, she blushed awkwardly.
Wen Xia noticed the couple’s combo cost 99 yuan. She shot a glare at Qin Mo.
Prodigal husband.
With a sweet smile, she turned to the waitress. “Miss, he’s my boyfriend. We’ll just have the family combo, thank you.”
“No problem.”
The waitress, still flustered, sneaked a few more glances at the pair, her eyes lingering on Qin Mo’s face. She then walked back to the counter and whispered to another waitress, “They’re a couple. We can forget about it.”
“Huh? And he was such a rare handsome one too.”
The other waitress glanced toward Qin Mo and Wen Xia, sighing in regret. “That girl looks so young, but she’s really pretty.”
…
Meanwhile, Wen Xia lowered her head and looked at Qin Mo across the table, softly warning, “Husband, if you keep spending money recklessly, I’ll confiscate everything.”
Qin Mo leaned in, clearly unwilling to miss an opportunity. He tried to kiss her, murmuring, “It’s all handed over already—on that bank card I gave you last time. Didn’t you check, wife?”
Wen Xia, fully aware of her husband’s antics, quickly raised her hand to block him. There were so many people around! She blinked and asked, “How much is in it?”
Denied his kiss, Qin Mo gave her a resentful look. First, she wouldn’t let him sleep beside her, and now she wouldn’t even let him kiss her.
“Not enough for your betrothal gift yet,” he replied.
Wen Xia thought for a moment. How much had Qin Mo given as a bride price back then?
She didn’t actually know, as Qin Mo had discussed it directly with Wen De. All she knew was that when she got married, Wen De had provided her with a dowry of five million yuan, plus a house and a car.
Unable to figure it out, she decided to just check Qin Mo’s card balance when she got home.
Suddenly, an idea struck her, and she chuckled mischievously. “If we break up, you’ll be the one crying, husband.”
As soon as she said it, she received a light tap on the head. The boy’s deep, magnetic voice followed. “If I hear the words ‘break up’ from your mouth again, some things might happen ahead of schedule, Wife.”
Wen Xia immediately chickened out.
…
After leaving the burger shop, they still had twenty minutes before the results were announced.
Wen Xia glanced around but didn’t see anywhere to sit. She regretted coming out so early.
“Want to go watch Zhao Zichuan and the others play games?” Qin Mo suggested.
Play games? Wen Xia nodded eagerly. “I haven’t played a match in forever!”
Qin Mo raised an eyebrow and said casually, “I haven’t had meat in forever either.”
Wen Xia: “…”
Qin Shueba has clearly let his hormones get to his head.
She decided to ignore him.
The internet café was nearby, only three or four minutes away. It was a small, somewhat unregulated place, and inspections weren’t particularly strict.
When they arrived, Pan Sen and Zhao Zichuan had just finished their game. Qin Mo turned to them and said, “Let us take a round. I’ll treat you both to an all-nighter this weekend.”
Starting up a new computer now would take a few minutes, and they wouldn’t be able to finish a full game in time.
Hearing this, Pan Sen immediately stood up and fawned, “Boss Qin, take my seat. Want a drink? I’ll go get you one.”
Zhao Zichuan also vacated his seat for Wen Xia, surprised. “Cousin, you play games too?”
He always thought girls didn’t like going to internet cafés, let alone gaming.
Wen Xia nodded shyly and said modestly, “I’m not very good.”
Pan Sen grinned and chimed in, “Don’t worry, Cousin. Your big brother here is a pro!”
Qin Mo watched as his wife pretended to be obedient, raising an eyebrow. He clicked the mouse and began matching for a game.
Pan Sen watched the cousin, who had been so meek just a moment ago, suddenly get serious, hitting every shot perfectly with the sniper rifle.
Even if she was bad, he’d be happy to let her play.
Pan Sen: “…”
At that moment, the cousin suddenly spoke up. “Husband, three people coming from the southwest. I’ll lead the attack, you cover me from behind.”
Pan Sen: “…”
‘Did she just say husband? Is that the latest internet slang?’
‘He looked at Zhao Zichuan. Do you know what that means?’
Zhao Zichuan rolled his eyes at him.
While shooting, Qin Mo glanced over at Wen Xia, who was beside him, clearly excited and almost lost in the game. He couldn’t help but chuckle. “Okay.”
By the time she realized what was happening, she’d probably want to crawl into a hole.
Wen Xia heard him laughing and looked over at him, confused. “Husband, what are you laughing at?”
Pan Sen, utterly curious about the meaning of husband, asked, “Cousin, what does ‘husband’ mean?”
Wen Xia’s eyes widened, realizing she had said it out loud. She looked at Qin Mo, ‘Did I really just call you husband?’
Qin Mo smiled and nodded, nearly losing his focus as he moved the mouse.
Wen Xia: “…”
She quickly covered up, saying seriously, “Husband just means teammate. We all call each other that when we play games.”
“Oh, so that’s what it means.” Pan Sen nodded, as if he understood, and immediately turned to Qin Mo. “Husband.”
He then turned to Zhao Zichuan and called, “Husband.”
“That’s a new way of calling someone. Cousin, do you call girls ‘wife’ then?”
He didn’t even consider the possibility of it being a couple’s term, still stuck on the cousin label.
Qin Mo and Zhao Zichuan. “…”
Wen Xia almost choked on her saliva. Feeling guilty, she nodded shyly.
“Then cousin is…” Pan Sen didn’t even get the chance to finish saying wife, as Qin Mo immediately interrupted. “Shut up.”
He then turned to Pan Sen and said with a serious tone, “Let me introduce my girlfriend, Wen Xia.”
