Chapter 58: Husband, Here’s a Little Heart for You

Pan Sen: “…”

He immediately coughed a few times, clearly shocked beyond words by Qin Mo’s statement.

But his first reaction wasn’t about cousins turning into a couple—it was that Qin Mo actually had a girlfriend!

He actually had a girlfriend!

It was an unbelievable piece of news.

With his mouth wide open, he blurted out what was on his mind, “Qin Mo, you actually have a girlfriend.”

While they were talking, the characters in the game had already been killed.

The screen displayed: Game Over.

Qin Mo narrowed his eyes slightly and tugged at the black high-neck sweater he was wearing. “Why can’t I have a girlfriend? Tell me why.”

In his past life, when they found out he had a girlfriend, they had the same seeing-a-ghost reaction.

He really wanted to ask them—why on earth couldn’t he have a girlfriend?

Under Qin Mo’s predatory gaze, Pan Sen cowered and weakly said, “I just feel like, with your personality, you’re destined to be single for life.” After saying this, he immediately hid behind Zhao Zichuan.

He was speaking the absolute truth.

Qin Mo’s attitude toward girls was always cold and dismissive, like ‘don’t bother me’.

Okay, maybe that was a bit exaggerated, but not by much.

As a buddy, Qin Mo was barely tolerable, but as a boyfriend? Definitely unsuitable.

Pan Sen shot a what-were-you-thinking look at Wen Xia.

Finally, someone shared her opinion. Wen Xia laughed uncontrollably, but when she met Qin Mo’s gaze, she quickly restrained herself.

She reached out to poke his arm lightly, offering a small consolation. “Your grades are good.” After saying that, she couldn’t help but laugh again.

So it turned out she wasn’t the only one who thought Qin Mo would be single forever.

Her casual comment unintentionally hurt two people.

Pan Sen: “…”

Zhao Zichuan: “…”

Pan Sen clutched his chest, groaning dramatically, “Sister-in-law, your words really hit me hard.”

Hearing the words sister-in-law, Wen Xia suddenly coughed a few times, flustered. She quickly glanced at her watch. There were only five minutes left until the grades would be released.

“Time to go,” she said.

Qin Mo, barely comforted, slung Wen Xia’s pink backpack over his shoulder and shot Pan Sen a sidelong glance. “Keep your mouth shut.”

Pan Sen nodded rapidly, raising his hand as if swearing an oath. “Don’t worry, Boss Qin. I won’t say a word to outsiders. By the way, the all-night gaming session on Sunday—still on?”

“It’s on.”

Qin Mo watched as Wen Xia adjusted her scarf and unrolled her sleeves, looking as obedient as a primary school student.

Once she was ready, he took her hand and led his little “student” out of the internet café.

Behind them, Pan Sen draped an arm over Zhao Zichuan’s shoulder, giving him a you’re-not-a-real-bro look. “Zhao Zichuan, something as earth-shattering as Qin Mo having a girlfriend, and you kept it from me? That’s just wrong. I almost called her ‘wifey’ earlier.

“If I had, Qin Mo would’ve strangled me on the spot.”

Zhao Zichuan responded with a knowing you’re-an-idiot look. “That’s on you.”

“On me? I thought they were cousins! Who would’ve guessed cousins could be boyfriend and girlfriend?”

Pan Sen looked a bit frustrated, clicking his tongue a few times before saying in mock horror, “Calling a girlfriend your cousin—who even does that? If my mom found out, she’d break my legs.”

Zhao Zichuan pushed him off, clearly unimpressed. “Why don’t you focus on getting a girlfriend first?”

Pan Sen was hit with a critical blow. “…”

“Zhao Zichuan! It’s not like you have a girlfriend either!”

“My grades are better than yours, third place.”

Zhao Zichuan, having endured countless 100×100 critical hits from Qin Mo recently, found Pan Sen’s remark to be a mere 0.1-point hit.

When grades were mentioned, Pan Sen took a massive blow of 10,000 critical points. “Zhao Zichuan, just you wait. I’ll definitely score higher than you in the finals!”

Zhao Zichuan, utterly unfazed, replied, “With your broken English? Maybe in your next life.”

Pan Sen: “…”

After losing face to both Qin Mo and Zhao Zichuan, Pan Sen shifted his attention to the sweet and quiet Wen Xia. He hurried over to her. “Sister-in-law…” He was about to ask her about her grades when Qin Mo interrupted mercilessly, delivering yet another critical blow. “Don’t bother. Your sister-in-law scored a perfect 150 in English.”

Pan Sen: “…”

You two are really something else.

Then he snapped out of it, his eyes lighting up with admiration. “Sister-in-law, you scored full marks in English? That’s amazing! Teach me sometime! And carry me in the game too!”

Wen Xia, embarrassed by how he kept calling her sister-in-law, rubbed her nose shyly. “Sure.”

“Sister-in-law, you’re the best! What do you want to drink? I’ll buy it for you.” Pan Sen finally felt like he’d found a normal person to talk to.

Wen Xia quickly waved her hands. “I don’t need anything. And stop calling me sister-in-law. Just call me Wen Xia.”

“Sister-in-law, how about I call you Xia Xia? It sounds closer…”

Before he could finish, Qin Mo reached out and pushed him aside, wrapping his arm around Wen Xia. With clear displeasure, he said, “Stay away from my girlfriend.”

Pan Sen: “…”

He wanted to roll his eyes so hard.

The students returned to their seats following the order from the previous exam. The test papers were already laid out on their desks. Wen Xia scored 89, just one point short of passing.

It was better than she had expected.

At that moment, the teacher on the stage announced, “The results of the math competition are out. Now, let’s congratulate the top three students who received awards.”

“First place, Qin Mo, with a perfect score of 150, earning 500 yuan. Second place, Pan Sen, with a score of 139, earning 300 yuan. Third place, Zhao Zichuan, with a score of 136, earning 100 yuan. Will the three winning students please come up to the stage to receive their prizes?”

Aside from the teachers from No.1 Middle School, who were quite pleased, the other teachers weren’t too happy. Although they had known this outcome in advance, it still stung.

Wen Xia hadn’t expected Pan Sen’s math results to be this good. As expected, those who hung out with top students turned out to be top students themselves.

Qin Mo stood up and, as he passed by Wen Xia’s desk, stopped to glance at her test paper. 89 points. Not bad at all—better than he had expected by a few points.

After the teachers handed out certificates and trophies to the top three students, they took individual photos with them, followed by a group photo with all the teachers.

Wen Xia saw Qin Mo speak briefly to the student with the camera, then wave at her, signaling her to come over.

Immediately, all the students in the exam room turned to look at her.

Wen Xia hesitated for a moment, then stood up and walked over. Tilting her head slightly, she whispered, “What is it?”

Qin Mo handed her the trophy and wrapped his arm around her shoulders, guiding her to face the camera. In a voice only the two of them could hear, he said, “Here, Husband’s giving you an award. You did well on your test this time, Wife.”

Before Wen Xia could react, the student with the camera had already snapped several photos of the two of them.

Qin Mo exchanged phone numbers with the photographer, telling him to contact him once the photos were printed.

Wen Xia, holding the trophy Qin Mo had awarded her, boarded the bus to the No.2 Middle School. She sat by the window, gazing out at Qin Mo, who was still watching her. The sunlight illuminated his short, messy hair, giving it a slightly yellowish hue.

She exhaled a breath onto the window and drew a heart shape, then took out her phone and sent a message to Qin Mo: Hubby, here’s a little heart for you.

Qin Mo quickly replied: Wife, look up.

Wen Xia looked up and saw Qin Mo holding his phone, taking a picture of her.

Once the bus left, Qin Mo zoomed in on the photo he had taken, capturing the cute heart Wen Xia had drawn on the window. Her sweet, innocent expression was simply adorable.

He couldn’t help but laugh softly a few times before setting that photo as his phone’s wallpaper.
