Chapter 62: One-sided Cold War

The girl shivered, questioning, “A thousand times? Can you do it?”

“Just try and you’ll know,” the boy smirked, the smile widening until it turned into a sinister grin.

Wen Xia suddenly woke up, her surroundings pitch black. She stayed still for a while, her mind blank, before realizing she had been dreaming.

She had such a… dream, and a thousand times?

It was too dirty.

All Qin Mo’s fault.

Fuming, she picked up her phone, blocked Qin Shueba, and pulled the blanket over her head to sleep.

After the party, more boys from Class 8 came to watch, and Wen Xia received more love letters than before. Some boys even gave her chocolates.

Some boys even blocked her at lunch, insisting she eat with them and not letting her go unless she did.

Wen Xia had a temper, and when she got annoyed, she directly threw the love letters and gifts out the classroom door in front of them.

After Cao Jun learned about this, he stood at the classroom door after every break, watching to see who dared to come and talk to their class’s good student about love!

Soon, no boy came to approach Wen Xia.

Qin Mo hadn’t been able to reach his wife for three days. Every call went unanswered, and he sent countless messages with no replies.

Given his experience in marriage, he knew he’d been blocked and was now officially in a one-sided cold war.

He tapped his pen on the desk, wondering what he had done wrong. Had he kissed too intensely?

The chemistry teacher had been eyeing him for a while. Seeing him still lost in thought, she paused the lesson and asked, “Qin Mo, what did the teacher just say?”

Suddenly, the whole class turned to look at Qin Mo, and Zhao Zichuan wore a look of schadenfreude.

Qin Mo snapped back to his senses, stood up calmly, and answered, “Cast iron contains carbon. When exposed to rainwater, it can form a galvanic cell, with iron as the negative electrode. The electrode reaction is: Fe→Fe²⁺ + 2e⁻.”

“Mm.” The chemistry teacher signaled for him to sit down, then continued her lecture.

After school, Qin Mo packed up his bag, slung it over his shoulder, and prepared to wait at the gate of No.2 Middle School to intercept his wife.

Zhao Zichuan hurriedly called out to him, “Qin Mo, where are you going? Didn’t we agree to go sing together this afternoon? Then we’re having a class gathering in the evening. Don’t ditch us, we’ve already made plans.”

Qin Mo nodded, “You guys go ahead, I’m going to pick up my wife, I’ll be there soon.” With that, he walked off.

Zhao Zichuan: “……”

Damn, is having a girlfriend that impressive?

When Qin Mo was waiting at the school gate for Wen Xia, he ran into Wen De by chance.

The two stared at each other for a few seconds, and Qin Mo politely greeted him, “Uncle Wen.”

Wen De responded with an “mm,” looking at the milk tea in Qin Mo’s hand. “Get in the car and wait.”

Qin Mo got into the car and saw a cup of milk tea placed between the front passenger and driver’s seat. “……”

He wanted to throw the milk tea out the window.

At this moment, school had just let out, and a crowd of students flooded out. Soon, Wen Xia and her friends came out. After Wen Xia said goodbye to Jiang Yan and Liu An’an, she walked toward Wen De’s car.

Wen Xia smiled and called out to Wen De, “Dad, I’m done with school! Hehe, Dad, I improved by more than ten points in this mock exam!”

“Good.” Wen De gestured for them to get in the car.

When Wen Xia opened the back door and saw the boy inside, she paused for a moment. Then, she pouted and sat down, “Yan Yan, you sit in the front.”

Jiang Yan also noticed Qin Mo but didn’t think it was strange. She got in the passenger seat and greeted Wen De, “Uncle Wen.”

“Mm.”

Wen De glanced in the rearview mirror, saw the two of them sitting on opposite sides of the backseat, then started the car.

Qin Mo shifted closer to Wen Xia, glanced at Wen De who was driving, and whispered, “I was wrong.”

Whatever mistake it was, he admitted it.

Wen Xia hummed twice, “Where did you go wrong?”

Qin Mo: “……”

“Everywhere.”

“You don’t even know where you went wrong.”

Qin Mo: “……”

“Please enlighten me, wife.”

Wen Xia hummed again, took out her phone, typed a long message, and showed it to Qin Mo.

Qin Mo: “……”

A thousand times?

He raised an eyebrow. So, in his wife’s eyes, he was really “good.”

When they reached the entrance of De’an Community, Qin Mo and Wen Xia got out of the car, while Jiang Yan got off a little earlier.

Qin Mo glanced at Wen De’s stern face, feeling a bit guilty, and coughed. “Uncle Wen.”

Wen De looked at him, and Qin Mo asked, “Uncle Wen, I want to take Xia Xia out for dinner. Is that okay?”

Wen De furrowed his brows for a moment but still agreed, his voice deep. “Be back before eight.”

“Okay.” Qin Mo silently let out a breath of relief.

Wen De pulled out five hundred yuan from his wallet and handed it to Wen Xia. “Call me if you need anything.”

“Thanks, Dad, you’re so nice.” Wen Xia smiled, took the money, and put it in her pocket.

Since they were going out for dinner, Wen De didn’t go home. He drove to the factory instead.

The two of them went home, dropped off their schoolbags, and Wen Xia knew it was Qin Mo’s class gathering, so she changed into nicer clothes.

It wasn’t time to eat yet, so they went to a KTV to sing. By the time they arrived, the others had already started singing, and someone was off-key, which was quite grating to the ears.

When they pushed the door open, everyone turned to look at them. There were about ten people, three of whom were girls, including Wang Yaoyao.

Pan Sen greeted warmly, “Cousin, come sing with us.”

“You guys sing, I’m not good at it,” Wen Xia feigned modesty.

“It’s fine, it’s fine. None of us are good at singing,” Pan Sen said as he handed her the microphone.

Wen Xia glanced at Qin Mo, who raised an eyebrow, reached over to pat her head, and said indulgently, “If you want to sing, then sing. I’ll pay later.”

He said “pay” in a very soft voice.

As soon as she heard he’d pay, Wen Xia didn’t hesitate. She chose an English song and began to find the rhythm. “Talk to me softly, there’s something in your eyes…”

Her English singing was smooth and sounded very pleasant to the ears.

Pan Sen clicked his tongue, enviously saying, “Qin Mo, where did you find this… cousin? Get me one too.”

Qin Mo lazily sat down, “Go look for one in your dreams.”

Pan Sen: “……”

Qin Mo, are you even human?

After Wen Xia finished her song, she sat next to Qin Mo, and that guy secretly took her hand.

After a while, a boy suggested playing Truth or Dare. Everyone agreed, and they began spinning the bottle.

Wen Xia had bad luck and was chosen first. The boys didn’t tease her, so the girls took the turn to ask her. Wang Yaoyao sweetly asked, “Xia Xia, is there someone you like?”

At the age of sixteen or seventeen, this topic was the most exciting, and the room erupted into teasing.

Wen Xia glanced at Qin Mo and answered, “Yes.”

A boy laughed and jokingly said, “Ah, I’ve got no chance now.”

Qin Mo gave him a faint glance.

Pan Sen said, “You don’t even have a chance, hahaha, hurry up and spin.”

The second time, the bottle pointed to a boy, and the question got a bit more daring.

Pan Sen grinned, “Have you ever kissed your girlfriend?”

The boy blushed a little, “Yes.”

After five spins, it landed on Qin Mo. Pan Sen and Zhao Zichuan exchanged a look, both clearly planning to stir things up.

Pan Sen asked, “Truth or dare?”

Qin Mo answered, “Truth.”

“Everyone stop asking, let me ask!” Pan Sen excitedly rubbed his hands together and then asked, “What was the feeling when you kissed your girlfriend for the first time?”
