Chapter 67: His Wife Was Very Jealous
The next day at 7 a.m., Wen De drove Wen Xia to No.1 Middle School to register. At that time, Qin Mo was already in class doing self-study.
When self-study ended, Zhao Zichuan got up to go eat and saw Qin Mo wiping down two empty desks behind him with a cloth. He asked, “Qin Mo, we’re not on cleaning duty this week, right? It’s next week.”
Qin Mo continued wiping as he lazily replied, “I know.”
He seemed to be in a good mood.
Qin Mo wasn’t usually one to go out of his way unless it was his own responsibility, so Pan Sen was puzzled. “If you know, why are you cleaning?”
“What do you know? Today, Wang Yaoyao is on cleaning duty,” another male classmate joked, as usual.
Qin Mo, who hadn’t looked up the entire time, glanced at him, narrowing his eyes slightly. “I don’t want to hear that sentence a second time.”
His wife was very jealous.
He didn’t want to be given the silent treatment as soon as he saw her.
He wanted hugs, kisses, and even to be lifted high.
The male classmate was stunned for a moment, surprised by Qin Mo’s sudden serious tone. Pan Sen, who knew the inside story, quickly tried to smooth things over. “Let’s go, it’s time to eat. If we’re any later, there won’t be any food left.”
After wiping down the desks, Qin Mo raised his hand to check his watch. It was 7:45. He pulled out his phone, thought of Wen De, and then put it back.
On his way out of the classroom, he glanced toward the office, but no one was there. Pressing his lips together, he carried his meal card to the school convenience store and bought a large bag of snacks and water.
When he returned to the classroom, it was 7:56.
Without seeing the person he wanted to see, he carried the items back to his seat.
Zhao Zichuan thought Qin Mo was acting strange today. “Qin Mo, what’s wrong with you? You seem distracted.”
Qin Mo: “……”
Was it that obvious?
At that moment, the male classmate who had joked earlier placed a bottle of drink on Qin Mo’s desk. “Qin Mo, I’m sorry about what I said earlier this morning. I won’t say it again. I just have a bad habit of joking around.” He scratched his head awkwardly as he apologized.
On regular days, the group of boys often hung out together. Although Qin Mo’s personality was a bit cold, he was straightforward and honest, so he got along well with the other boys.
“It’s fine. Just don’t say it again in the future. This weekend, I’ll treat you all to a gaming session,” Qin Mo said, shaking his head.
Quan Qiang breathed a sigh of relief and declared generously, “This weekend, I’ll treat everyone to a gaming session! I’ve never done that before.”
Pan Sen punched him lightly in the chest, laughing. “Then I won’t hold back! I’ll treat everyone to lunch this afternoon.”
Meanwhile, Wen Xia and Wen De met with the dean. After confirming Wen Xia’s student information, the dean contacted Zhou Gang. When Zhou Gang learned that Wen Xia would be boarding at school, he took them to the dormitory to drop off her belongings.
The dormitory was Room 206, which happened to have an empty top bunk.
Wen De helped Wen Xia set up her bed. By the time everything was settled, it was already a little past 8:20.
Seeing the time, Zhou Gang led them back to the office and handed Wen Xia her textbooks. There were still three or four minutes left before the class ended.
The three of them stood by the side of the classroom door. Wen De glanced at the obedient Wen Xia and said in a deep voice, “Call me if you need anything.”
After pausing for a moment, he added, “If you run out of money, just let me know.”
Wen Xia felt a little emotional. In her previous life, she had always thought this kind of Wen De wasn’t caring enough. Now, she nodded obediently and said, “Dad, I understand. Don’t worry, I’ll take good care of myself.”
Wen De responded with a quiet “Mm.”
Zhou Gang kindly reassured Wen De, saying, “Don’t worry, Wen Xia’s father. Qin Mo is also in our class; he’ll help look after Wen Xia.”
Wen Xia: “……”
Teacher, with you saying that, my dad is going to worry even more.
Wen De didn’t know that Qin Mo was there, nor did he know about their fake cousin relationship. Hearing those words, he instinctively frowned and pressed his lips together.
After a moment of silence, he said, “Thank you for your help, Teacher Zhou.”
Just then, the class bell rang. The subject teacher walked out, and Zhou Gang greeted them briefly before leading Wen Xia into the classroom.
Zhou Gang clapped his hands to signal the students who wanted to go to the restroom to wait a few more minutes. “Everyone, quiet down. We have a new family member joining our class. Let’s give her our full support.”
“Wen Xia, introduce yourself to everyone. Don’t be nervous, just relax. The classmates in this class are all easy to get along with.”
The girl wore a pale yellow sweatshirt, light blue jeans, and carried a pink backpack. Her hair was tied in a ponytail, with a few stray strands framing her face.
Her skin was very fair, her eyes pure and lively, and she was undeniably beautiful.
The entire class let out a collective “Wow.” In the Rocket Class, boys far outnumbered girls—there were only seven girls in total. Except for Wang Yaoyao, the others were stereotypical science-focused students who weren’t particularly attractive.
Qin Mo’s previously upturned lips dropped immediately when he heard the collective “Wow.”
Zhao Zichuan finally figured out why Qin Mo had been so distracted today.
It was because his girlfriend was here!
“……”
Wen Xia didn’t look at Qin Mo. Instead, she bowed politely at a ninety-degree angle and said sweetly, “Hello, everyone. My name is Wen Xia. I’m a transfer student from No.2 Middle School. I hope to learn a lot from all of you.”
Not only was she pretty, but her voice was also pleasant to listen to.
The boys in the Rocket Class enthusiastically clapped, and Pan Sen, taking the lead, teased, “Cousin, my name is Pan Sen. I’ll take good care of you, and your cousin will take even better care of you. Hahaha!”
Zhou Gang shot Pan Sen a sharp look, signaling him to behave and not scare the new student. Then, he turned to Wen Xia with a warm smile and said, “Wen Xia, take the empty seat in the last row for now. At noon, we’ll rearrange the seating based on grades.”
Not delaying the students any further, Zhou Gang waved his hand, letting those who needed to use the restroom go.
Wen Xia carried her books to the empty seat in the last row. The desk and chair were clean.
She set down her backpack and glanced outside. Wen De was still standing on the balcony watching her. Her eyes stung with emotion as she waved at him with a cheerful smile, signaling him to head back.
Wen De nodded but didn’t leave.
Qin Mo got up and walked to the back of the classroom. Out of the corner of his eye, he suddenly spotted Wen De outside the window. Their eyes met.
Qin Mo: “……”
Wen De turned and walked away.
Qin Mo: “……”
He sat down in the seat next to Wen Xia and whispered, trying to earn some credit, “Wife, I cleaned the desk. How are you going to reward me?”
Hearing the word “wife,” Wen Xia shot him a warning glance and whispered back, “Qin Mo, behave yourself.”
She didn’t want to get caught by the teacher for being in a relationship on her first day.
Getting called to the office.
Getting her parents involved.
Qin Mo raised an eyebrow in dissatisfaction and repeated her name, “Xia Xia, Xia Xia, Xia Xia…” His voice was low and drawn out.
The two boys sitting in front of them: “……”
Was Qin Mo… acting cute?
Wen Xia: “……”
She ignored him, took out her book and pen, and started neatly writing her name on the cover.
Pan Sen leaned over with a cheeky grin and said, “Qin Mo, you’re too much! You didn’t even tell us sister-in-la—er, cousin was coming. Cousin, let me treat you to some milk.” He placed a bottle of milk in front of Wen Xia.
Wen Xia smiled politely. “Thank you.”
Qin Mo glanced at Pan Sen, who rubbed his nose awkwardly and returned to his seat.
Qin Mo leaned closer to Wen Xia again and whispered, “Wife, wife, wife, wife…”
Wen Xia: “……”
She turned to look at him. The next second, she reached out and pinched his face. “Qin Mo.”
Qin Mo’s face was distorted under her grip.
The whole class went silent for a few seconds.
Qin Mo raised an eyebrow, seizing the moment to grab Wen Xia’s hand. He leaned in closer, speaking in a voice only the two of them could hear. “Do you want a kiss?”
Wen Xia: “……”
