Chapter 69: Uncover Your Secrets

Pan Sen moved closer to Wen Xia and complained, “Sister-in-law, Qin Mo is bullying me. Can you do something about him?”

The way he called her “sister-in-law” was soft and deliberate.

Wen Xia glanced at Qin Mo, chuckled, and said, “I can’t control him.”

Pan Sen was speechless.

What a public display of affection.

Qin Mo shot him a look full of disdain, then took Wen Xia off to have a meal.

Pan Sen turned to Zhao Zichuan, radiating the bitter aura of a single dog, and said, “I don’t want to live anymore.”

Zhao Zichuan rolled his eyes at him. “Serves you right,” he replied, before walking away.

Wen Xia stood beside Qin Mo, familiarizing herself with the surroundings of No.1 Middle School. She asked, “What’s that building over there?”

“The one for the first-year students,” Qin Mo replied, looking down at his petite wife beside him. The smile on his face grew wider.

The cafeteria at No.1 Middle School was massive, spanning three floors, enough for all the students to find seats without having to fight for space like in No.2 Middle School.

Qin Mo pointed to a set of four seats near the edge and said to Wen Xia, “Wait for me over there.”

Wen Xia nodded and, after sitting down, took out her phone to check her messages.

Little Fairies Group Chat

Jiang Yan: Xia Xia, how are you doing? Are you settling in well?

Liu An’an: Xia Xia, do you want Yan Yan and me to come see you?

Jiang Yan: Xia Xia?

The messages had been sent over an hour ago. Wen Xia replied:

I’m doing well. No need to visit. Let’s meet on Sunday instead.

Liu An’an: Xia Xia, are there any handsome guys there? (Attached a mischievous emoji.)

Jiang Yan: Send photos.

After thinking for a moment, Wen Xia sent a few pictures of Qin Mo from the display board.

Handsome or not?

Jiang Yan: !!! Handsome cousin!!!

Liu An’an: With such a handsome cousin and so many first places, I’m not worthy.

Wen Xia couldn’t help but laugh. Just as she was about to reply, Qin Mo and the others came back with their meals.

Qin Mo sat down beside her and asked, “What are you looking at?”

“A secret,” Wen Xia replied with a playful blink. She put her phone away, grabbed her spoon, and began to eat.

Qin Mo raised an eyebrow. “Are you sure you want to have secrets?”

Then, leaning close to her ear, he whispered mischievously, “Do you believe I can uncover all your ‘secrets,’ wife?”

Wen Xia was speechless. She glared at him in exasperation before picking up her spoon to eat.

Not long after, a group of boys joined them—all students from the Rocket Class.

Wen Xia was full after eating most of her meal. Out of habit, she pushed her lunchbox toward Qin Mo and said softly, “Here… for you.”

Qin Mo glanced at the lunchbox. “Be good. Eat three more bites.”

“One bite,” Wen Xia bargained.

“Three bites,” Qin Mo insisted firmly.

Wen Xia held up two fingers and called him by his nickname, “Mo Mo, two bites. If you make me eat one more, I won’t eat any at all.”

“Alright,” Qin Mo agreed readily, pushing the lunchbox back to her.

After years of marriage, Qin Mo knew this was her usual bargaining tactic at mealtime. So each time, he raised the “price” a little higher.

The others, who were oblivious to this routine, exchanged confused glances.

They couldn’t help but feel like they were being force-fed dog food.

After eating two more bites, Wen Xia gave the lunchbox back to Qin Mo. Under the watchful eyes of everyone, Qin Mo began eating from the pink lunchbox.

Unable to endure the PDA any longer, Pan Sen suddenly coughed, spraying a mouthful of rice onto Zhao Zichuan’s face.

Zhao Zichuan’s face darkened.

“Brother, I’m sorry,” Pan Sen apologized, quickly grabbing a tissue to wipe Zhao Zichuan’s face. “I just couldn’t hold it in. You get it, right?”

He added with a grin, “I’ll treat you to an all-night gaming session.”

When they returned to the classroom, Zhou Gang was already standing at the podium with a grade sheet in hand. He spotted Wen Xia and greeted her with a kind smile.

“Wen Xia, how are classes going? Are you able to keep up?” he asked, his gaze briefly flicking to the pink lunchbox in Qin Mo’s hand.

Wen Xia nodded. “Teacher Zhou, I’m keeping up just fine.”

“Good, then. If there’s anything you don’t understand, feel free to ask the teacher—or your cousin,” Zhou Gang said warmly. He had actually already spoken with the subject teachers about Wen Xia’s performance that morning, and all of them had given very positive feedback.

A few minutes later, most of the students had returned to the classroom, and Zhou Gang asked everyone to step out. He then began calling them back in one by one to select their seats based on their grades.

“Qin Mo,” he called.

Qin Mo, who usually chose a window seat in the fifth row, surprised everyone by picking a spot in the third row near the aisle.

When the second student, Zhao Zichuan, walked in, he instinctively headed toward Qin Mo’s usual seat. But Qin Mo shot him a look.

Zhao Zichuan froze. “…”

He reluctantly sat in the row behind Qin Mo instead.

When it was Pan Sen’s turn, he immediately understood the situation and chose the seat next to Zhao Zichuan.

Wen Xia ranked in the top 20 of the Rocket Class, so when she entered the classroom, she saw Qin Mo waving at her.

Feeling a bit guilty, she glanced at Zhou Gang, who simply gave her a kind smile.

As the “young couple” sat together, Zhou Gang didn’t seem to find anything unusual about it.

After the seating was rearranged, Qin Mo first helped Wen Xia move her books to her new desk before moving his own. Then, noticing her pink water cup was empty, he took it to refill it without saying a word.

Zhao Zichuan: “…”

Pan Sen: “…”

During the lunch break, most of the students didn’t nap but instead took out their assignments to work on.

Wen Xia was working on a math practice test, while Qin Mo tackled some advanced math problems. Neither of them spoke.

With ten minutes left before class resumed, Qin Mo finished his test and glanced at Wen Xia. She was chewing on the end of her pen, clearly stuck on a difficult question.

He leaned closer and whispered, “Call me Husband.”

Wen Xia, seeing he had already finished, handed him her pen and mouthed, “Husband.”

Qin Mo raised an eyebrow, looking barely satisfied. He scooted his chair closer and whispered, “For this problem, the given conditions are…”

He patiently explained for seven or eight minutes. When he noticed Wen Xia still looked a little confused, he paused and asked, “Which part didn’t you understand?”

Wen Xia replied, “That last step.”

“Got it.” Qin Mo broke the previous step down into three or four smaller steps. After explaining, he asked, “Did you understand it now? If not, it’s fine—I’ll explain it again.”

Wen Xia obediently said, “I understood.”

Qin Mo smiled faintly, satisfied, and continued explaining the remaining parts of the problem.

Class ended, and some students began shouting about playing basketball during PE.

It took another two or three minutes for Qin Mo to finish explaining the problem. When he was done, he picked up Wen Xia’s pink water cup and took a couple of sips.

Wen Xia glanced at him, then at his own water bottle. “Why don’t you drink from yours?”

Qin Mo raised an eyebrow and said in a low voice, just loud enough for the two of them to hear, “Because my wife’s water is sweeter.”

Wen Xia: “…”

During PE class, the teacher was lenient with the girls, asking them to run a lap before letting them rest on the sidelines.

The boys, however, had to keep running.

Wen Xia wasn’t familiar with the girls in her class, so she sat alone on the steps under a tree, quietly watching Qin Mo run.

Not far away, a group of four or five boys was talking.

“That girl looks really pretty.”

“Which class is she from? I’ve never seen her before.”

“Let’s play rock-paper-scissors. The loser goes to ask her name.”

A minute later, the boy in a black hoodie walked up to Wen Xia, grinning. “Hi, I’m Jin Hang. What’s your name?”

Up close, he realized the girl was even prettier, with fair skin and delicate features.

Wen Xia glanced at him and responded, “Hi.” She didn’t say anything else.

The more Jin Hang looked at her, the prettier she seemed. Scratching his head, he suddenly felt a bit shy and asked, “Which class are you in? I don’t think I’ve seen you before.”

Before Wen Xia could answer, a shadow loomed over them—it was Qin Mo.

He glared at Jin Hang with clear displeasure. “No student ID displayed—deduct five points. Hair doesn’t meet the dress code—deduct five points. Harassing a female classmate—deduct five points. Jin Hang, that’s fifteen points deducted.”

Jin Hang: “…”

Each student started with fifty conduct points per semester. If all points were deducted, their parents had to come to school for a formal review.

Jin Hang had already lost ten points earlier in the week.
