Chapter 491 – Trouble in the Dorm

It seemed that even Tang Yuan, who was usually obedient, had started dating someone. This had stirred some interest in Yu Wan, who had been quite unresponsive before.

By the time Friday came, Yu Wan mentioned that she was planning to attend a mixer organized by the Foreign Language College and the Physics College over the weekend.

After speaking, she invited her dorm mates to join.

However, most of the people in their dorm were either married, divorced, or already in relationships. Hu Cuihua was probably the only one who hadn’t shown any interest yet.

Yu Wan didn’t want to go alone, so she invited Tan Yunfang. However, Tan Yunfang had been deeply affected by her first marriage and was not currently interested in such events. She declined, focusing her thoughts on studying, earning money, and working.

Later, Yu Wan invited Tang Yuan, but Tang Yuan was also hesitant in her refusal. She had plans with her boyfriend for the weekend.

As for Ye Nan and Lu Xia, who were both married, they didn’t say anything.

In the end, Yu Wan managed to convince Hu Cuihua, who seemed indifferent, to accompany her.

Lu Xia was quite curious about this mixer and planned to ask Yu Wan about it when they returned to school on Monday. However, upon arriving, they discovered that something had happened in the dorm!

Lu Xia arrived at the classroom early on Monday morning and noticed that Yu Wan, who would usually be there early, was absent today.

She initially thought Yu Wan might have overslept, but when she didn’t show up for the first class, Lu Xia became increasingly worried.

After class, she asked the class monitor, and learned that Yu Wan had taken a leave of absence.

This raised more questions, and she asked why Yu Wan had taken the leave, but the class monitor didn’t know.

So, after enduring the morning classes, she planned to go back to the dorm to see if the others knew what was going on.

Upon returning, she found only Ye Nan in the dorm.

“Where are the others?” Lu Xia asked.

Ye Nan shook her head and then told her seriously, “Something has happened in our dorm!”

“What happened?”

Seeing Ye Nan’s serious expression, Lu Xia became nervous too. After all, Ye Nan was usually very composed, except for that one time when her fiancé had an accident. This was the first time Lu Xia had seen her look unsettled.

She initially thought it was about Yu Wan, but listening to Ye Nan, she realized it wasn’t.

“It’s Tang Yuan. She hasn’t returned since her weekend date.”

“Huh?” Lu Xia didn’t expect it to be Tang Yuan.

“What happened? Where could she be?”

Ye Nan shook her head. “I don’t know. We all went home for the weekend, and only Hu Cuihua was here. She didn’t see Tang Yuan come back on Saturday night, and she thought Tang Yuan was with her boyfriend, so she didn’t think much of it. When Yu Wan returned to the campus on Sunday afternoon and asked, she realized something was wrong.”

“We all know about what happened to Xie Yunyun, so we are more cautious about our own safety. Besides, Tang Yuan is usually very obedient and wouldn’t stay out without notice. So, Yu Wan decided to go to Tang Yuan’s boyfriend’s college to check. But she didn’t go alone; she first went to Tan Yunfang and told her about this. Tan Yunfang also thought it was strange.”

“Later, they both went to the Normal College. But when they got there, they realized they didn’t even know Tang Yuan’s boyfriend’s name. They tried hard but couldn’t find him, so they came back.”

“Thinking that Tang Yuan might come back that night, Tan Yunfang waited. However, Tang Yuan didn’t return that night.”

“So, Tan Yunfang called the academic advisor and asked if Tang Yuan had taken leave. But even the academic advisor had no information about her leave. Tan Yunfang realized something was very wrong and quickly informed the advisor that Tang Yuan was missing.”

“The advisor said she would inquire with the Normal College. And early this morning, both Yu Wan and Tan Yunfang were called by the advisor.”

“I came early and heard the details from Tan Yunfang, but I don’t know what the advisor said to them after they were called. Later, I went to the advisor’s office and asked, but they were not there.”

Chapter 492 – Tang Yuan Missing

.

Lu Xia frowned as she listened to the account of events.

In their dorm now, those who were married lived with their spouses, those who rented apartments stayed in their rentals, and the only ones usually in the dorm were Hu Cuihua, Yu Wan, and Tang Yuan.

Yu Wan would go home on weekends, returning early on Sunday afternoon. That’s why they found out about this incident so late.

After hearing about it, Lu Xia had a bad feeling, suspecting that something might have happened to Tang Yuan.

She felt anxious and unsure about what to do or what had actually transpired. She was contemplating if she should go out to investigate when Tan Yunfang, Yu Wan, and Hu Cuihua returned.

Seeing their serious expressions, Lu Xia felt a pang of worry.

At that moment, Ye Nan asked, “What happened? What did the advisor tell you?”

Hu Cuihua and Yu Wan were at a loss for words upon hearing the question.

It was Tan Yunfang who spoke up, dropping a bombshell, “Tang Yuan is missing!”

“What?”

“What do you mean? How did she go missing?”

Lu Xia and Ye Nan asked simultaneously.

Tan Yunfang seemed exhausted and weary, and Yu Wan continued the story.

“We just came back from the police station. The school has already reported to the police. She is really missing!”

“What happened?” Lu Xia didn’t expect the situation to be this serious and was growing increasingly worried.

Yu Wan’s eyes were red now, and although she was usually carefree, she was visibly scared now.

Choked up, she said, “I don’t know the specifics. I just heard from the advisor that they contacted Tang Yuan’s boyfriend. He said that they did go for a date, but they had an argument midway. Tang Yuan left on her own. When he tried to catch up with her, Tang Yuan was already gone. He thought she might have taken a ride back to school. Later, he didn’t see her again.”

“This morning, our school felt the situation was serious, so they reported to the police. We were called in for questioning and spent the whole morning assisting in the search.”

Hearing this account, Lu Xia and Ye Nan fell into silence. How could someone just disappear like that?

“Waaah! Waaah…” Suddenly, a loud sob rang out, heartbreaking.

It was Hu Cuihua crying. In between sobs, she blamed herself, “It’s… waaah… all my fault! If only I hadn’t misunderstood, we wouldn’t have wasted so much time… waaah…”

Lu Xia and the others exchanged a glance upon hearing this, not knowing what to say to console her.

According to Tang Yuan’s boyfriend, if he’s to be believed, she should have returned on Saturday. That meant she had gone missing since then. But Hu Cuihua didn’t find it strange that Tang Yuan didn’t return at night, only realizing it when Yu Wan came back to school.

She was really too carefree.

At this moment, Ye Nan asked, “Didn’t you find it odd that she didn’t come back at night?”

Hu Cuihua sobbed and said, “In our class, there are also couples. I heard that they stay outside every weekend. Tang Yuan also went to see her boyfriend, so I thought…”

She thought Tang Yuan had stayed with her boyfriend?

Upon hearing this, Lu Xia and the others didn’t know what to say. They might blame Hu Cuihua, but in reality, it wasn’t her fault. After all, she had always been carefree and had simple thoughts. Perhaps she genuinely believed this.

Sigh, they could only say that no one had anticipated such an event.

A perfectly fine female college student had gone missing. They couldn’t fathom what might happen next. So, they quickly asked Tan Yunfang and the others, “How did your search go today? What did the police say?”

  1. The boyfriend seems a bit suspicious. I could be overthinking it, but things just seem a bit too coincidental between Tang Yuan and him, especially when you consider how they met and their hometowns happen to be the same. Then they coincidentally got into a fight and he couldn’t catch up to her, which I find a bit difficult to believe considering her gentle and obedient personality; not saying that you can’t have arguments with such a personality, but just that they’re not as likely unless it was something major. I just hope I’m wrong and that she’s safe.

    Thanks for the chapter! 😀
