Chapter 6: Do you know Witch Shanshan?
“Really? Has that kid Feng Sa finally wised up? All my scolding must be paying off!”
“Auntie, please don’t scold him anymore! Brother Feng Sa really worked hard on his studies. He could even earn his own tuition. I want to learn from him and help ease the family’s burden. Moreover, he never panicked when faced with challenges…” Su Mu praised Feng Sa a lot, expressing how she was slowly improving because of him.
“Good! Good!” Mother Feng on the other end couldn’t stop smiling at Su Mu’s sudden outburst of words.
After they finished talking, they hung up the phone, completely forgetting that Feng Sa was still there.
“Here.” Su Mu handed the phone back to him.
Feng Sa took it with a complicated expression. “Sansan, your confession failed, but it’s good that you failed!”
It was like a complete transformation, as if she had become a different person!
Su Mu responded indifferently and then glanced at Feng Sa’s phone, seemingly casually asking, “What’s that on your phone cover?”
Feng Sa was stunned and said incredulously, “You don’t even know about Witch Shanshan?”
“…I’ve heard a bit,” Su Mu replied.
Feng Sa looked at Su Mu with a frustrated expression, then fiddled with his phone. Within seconds, Su Mu received messages from Feng Sa on WeChat.

Su Mu fell silent as she looked at the dozen or so videos.
And Feng Sa no longer had the faint sense of estrangement from earlier. His dark eyes lit up with a fiery glow, and his handsome face showed a fervor akin to that of a devotee as he began to speak at length, “Let me tell you, Sansan, not watching Witch Shanshan’s live stream is a major regret in life! But it’s okay, she’ll be live again in a few days. You absolutely have to watch it then…”
“Shanshan can’t be very old. Even though I can’t see her face, I have a faint feeling that she’s only a few years older than you…”
“Shanshan must know magic! It’s so amazing! Maybe one day in the future, she will bring us news of great spirits and gods…”
Su Mu thought, “…”
Sorry, but you might be disappointed.
Shanshan not only didn’t know magic, but she was also a fraud.
Is he really that worshipful?
‘I wonder if he would be shocked to know that Shanshan is actually the childhood friend standing in front of him…’
Pretending to be a witch is a capital offense.
Su Mu didn’t comment on the topic of Shanshan. She remained silent, eating her meal quietly, showing no interest at all.
After dinner, Feng Sa walked Su Mu back to school, and the two of them strolled along a nearby street.
When they were close enough, Su Mu spoke up:
“Let’s stop here. You can go back now, Feng Sa.”
The moonlight was already shining in the sky, and the stars twinkled tonight. In the girl’s eyes, the starlight sparkled, adding a touch of hazy tenderness compared to the daytime.
“It feels like you got tired of hearing me talk about Shanshan,” Feng Sa said, unable to understand. “How can anyone not be interested in witches? Your change is really strange.”
Su Mu responded coldly, “Remember our deal. Thank you for your help. I’m going back now.”
With that, she turned around and walked into the darkness where the moonlight couldn’t reach without any hesitation.
Feng Sa looked at her back quietly for two seconds, and then he sighed: “Other people become idiots after a heartbreak, but this girl becomes a completely different person after a heartbreak.”
“But…” He thought about it and felt that this was a good change.
The evening breeze blew through the strands of hair on his forehead. Feng Sa turned around, planning to head back to school as well. However, after taking just two steps, his phone rang.
“Hello? Who is this?”
“Is this Feng Sa? We saw your resume, and it’s quite impressive.”
Feng Sa stopped in his tracks. “So?”
“Congratulations, you passed the first round. If you pass the interview tomorrow, you can become a provisional member.”
After hanging up the phone, Feng Sa chuckled, his eyes filled with a determined light. “The Bureau of Paranormal Investigation?”
…
Eight o’clock at night hardly felt like night at all for university students.
As the campus bustled with activity, Su Mu headed toward the library, intending to read for a while longer.
She had many tasks to accomplish, with the most critical being:
Temporarily maintain her witch identity;
Complete her missions;
Gather more intelligence to determine whether the so-called Witch Development System’s claims were true or false.
As Su Mu pondered, a cold, familiar voice echoed in her mind:
“New Tier-1 task triggered: Obtain a genuine blessing from Meng Nian.”
“Reward: Rat Tail Incense Box ×1, Magic White Candle Box ×1, Magic White Crystal Box ×1, unlock the next page of the ‘Witch’s Code.'”
A new task?
Su Mu didn’t care about the purpose of the task; she focused on the key phrase and immediately looked around.
Sure enough, she spotted two girls walking toward her from a distance.
One of them was Meng Nian, the campus belle of C University, known for her difficult personality and not the type to give genuine blessings.
Su Mu slightly lowered her head as she brushed past Meng Nian.
Her cool eyes narrowed slightly, recalling how Meng Nian had publicly embarrassed a boy who confessed to her during the opening ceremony.
A tough nut to crack.
There was no time limit on the task, but Su Mu didn’t want to drag it out. She turned around, left the campus with a clear purpose, and headed to buy what she needed.
She planned to complete this task tonight.
…
When Meng Nian and her roommate returned to the school, it was already past ten o’clock.
“My boyfriend is waiting for me at the playground. I’m going to talk to him for a bit!” Her roommate waved her phone and smiled politely.
Meng Nian nodded coldly, her expression not very pleasant.
Her roommate could feel the cold aura around her, but their relationship was just average. Sometimes, Meng Nian’s arrogant demeanor was quite annoying.
Pretending not to notice, her roommate walked away directly.
Meng Nian walked back to the dormitory alone.
Her dormitory was in the southeast corner of the campus, an area filled with dormitory buildings, and hers was in a more secluded part.
The campus was relatively quiet after ten o’clock since curfew was at eleven.
The path Meng Nian was walking on was empty at this time.
She poked at her phone impatiently.
A gust of evening wind blew her hair, which had fallen behind her, across her face.
Meng Nian brushed her hair aside and suddenly noticed a person standing two meters away, behind another dormitory building.
The person was wearing a black robe, with a hood covering their face, facing her direction. The moonlight shone on them, making their figure appear surreal.
Meng Nian stopped immediately, becoming alert. “What are you doing there?”
