Chapter 15: The Fierce Shanshan

In the Bureau of Paranormal Investigation, those seated across from each other fell into silence.

On the computer, the atmosphere in the live stream had also become somewhat stifling.

The viewers were captivated by the witch’s aura, and these seasoned veterans, though also struck by Shanshan’s presence, were rendered speechless for another reason.

After a while, a relatively young person spoke up, “Director… what should we do?”

This witch… is really the real deal!

The director’s expression was extremely serious, his eyes reflecting a range of emotions, and he remained silent for a moment.

The deputy director glanced at him and said in a calm voice, “Things have become complicated. Shanshan seems to be a real witch, but…”

But there were too many things that didn’t make sense.

Are there really witches in the world?

Would a witch live stream the process of making potions?

Why had Shanshan only shown her hands before, and why did those videos obviously seem fake?

What exactly does Shanshan want to do?

What should they do?

The room fell into a long silence again.

“Should we ask Shanshan a few questions?” Finally, someone couldn’t stand the tension anymore and suggested.

“That’s possible,” the deputy director nodded.

Then, someone took out their phone and entered the live stream.

From Su Mu’s perspective, it appeared that a person with a red name suddenly entered the live stream.

This person was clearly special, not in the sense of being a high-spending user on the app, but because of their unique status.

The person’s name was: Observer 73.

They had arrived.

Su Mu knew that the most challenging moment of the night had come, hoping that her earlier preparations would pay off.

What seemed effortless earlier was actually a result of Su Mu combining magic tricks, chemistry, magical tools provided by the system, and the process of making Moon Water from the “Witch’s Code.” All these elements were used together to achieve that effect.

As for why she didn’t directly make Moon Water but instead concocted some ambiguous “potions,” it was because she didn’t have a deep understanding of this world yet.

If possible, Su Mu didn’t want to reveal in front of so many people that she could make Moon Water or explain its uses.

—The human heart is always difficult to predict.

【Hello, Shanshan.】 73 greeted.

His message was highlighted in red and bold, and all other comments in the live stream were forcibly silenced, leaving only his message on the screen.

Suppressing her extraneous emotions, Su Mu responded in a less-than-friendly tone, “You?”

“I am Agent 73 from the Bureau of Paranormal Investigation,” the red text said. “We would like to conduct some investigations about you and hope it won’t be too much of a disturbance.”

“Too polite.”

This was said by another person from the Bureau of Paranormal Investigation.

The man next to him, tasked with asking questions, gave him a sideways glance. “Otherwise? Should we just come in and say, ‘I have a few questions for you, answer incorrectly, and you die?'”

“…” The man nodded in agreement.

“Focus,” the deputy director glanced at the two.

“Yes!”

At this moment, everyone was focused on the witch Shanshan’s reaction.

Shanshan didn’t speak for a while.

Although they were the ones in control, the top figures in the Bureau of Paranormal Investigation couldn’t help but feel a bit nervous.

Would Shanshan refuse to answer?

Was Shanshan angry?

Understandably, if they were in Shanshan’s position, they would also be upset by such behavior that clearly said, “Let’s see if you’re really a witch!”

But if Shanshan truly refused to answer their questions, how would they make a judgment?

One concern after another flashed through their minds.

Agent 73 couldn’t help but swallow nervously.

On the screen, Shanshan gently tapped the table, and the blue rose withered in response.

“Ask your questions, you suspicious and ignorant humans,” Shanshan said coldly.

73 glanced at the withered blue rose, feeling as if his own life was equally precarious.

He took a deep breath before starting to type.

His colleagues beside him could clearly see that his hands were trembling slightly as he typed.

【Do you know about EN?】

Witch Shanshan paused for half a second, seemingly amused by the ridiculous question. “What do you think? Or do you believe you know more than I do?”

Her voice was as cold as ice.

73 looked up at the director. Shanshan’s aura was so overpowering that for a moment, he felt she might teleport in front of him and kill him.

“Continue,” the director said without looking up.

73: 【How do you think it should be resolved?】

The live stream was silent for a few seconds before Shanshan responded, “What does it have to do with me?”

“What do you mean ‘what does it have to do with me’?” someone grumbled, “Such a terrible attitude! Now I’m starting to doubt she’s real! Isn’t a witch’s duty to protect?”

73: 【Can anyone vouch for your identity?】

Shanshan’s voice turned even colder, “Why do I need to prove anything?”

73: 【Would you be willing to meet with us?】

Shanshan: “No. Leave.”

“…,” 73 wiped some sweat off his brow, looking embarrassed.

Shanshan was so fierce.

“Do we need to ask anything else?” 73 didn’t know what else to ask. His knowledge of witches was limited, and this should have been the Witches’ Guild’s responsibility.

“No, Shanshan’s answers are almost flawless, we won’t get anything more,” the director said, his face obscured by the shadows. After a moment of silence, he issued an order, “Arrest her.”

“Director?!”

“Why?”

Everyone else was shocked.

Before the live stream, they had planned to arrest her directly, but based on Shanshan’s recent performance, although it didn’t conclusively prove she was a real witch, there was no evidence to prove she was fake either.

In other words, her seamless responses to 73’s questions suggested she was likely real!

If they arrested a true witch, they’d be doomed!

The deputy director was also stunned by the director’s words. His expression shifted several times before he finally said gravely:

“Then let’s arrest her. If there truly are witches, why haven’t they appeared for so many years? Shanshan is just too suspicious! We can’t tolerate anyone masquerading as a witch and deceiving others! The reputation of witches must not be tarnished!”

“I think everyone understands, right?” The deputy director emphasized his point, “If we don’t arrest Shanshan, the Guild won’t be pleased either!”

“But they clearly…”

“Enough!” The director clearly didn’t want to elaborate further. Issuing this order seemed to have aged him, but the light in his eyes was firm and unyielding, “Execute the order immediately!”

“…Yes!”

Instantly, people in the room began contacting their subordinates, some stood up to take action, and others looked grim and heavy-hearted.

“Hello? It’s me! Investigate Shanshan immediate—”

“Wait!” The deputy director suddenly interrupted the order.

The person responsible for investigating Shanshan’s information was taken aback, not understanding why the deputy director’s attitude changed so quickly.

Instinctively, he looked around and saw that everyone else was staring at the live stream.
