Chapter 301 – Wedding Starts

The arrival of Old Master Qu shook the wedding venue like a bombshell, leaving the attendees a bit dazed. However, these people were industry bigwigs, quickly regaining composure and restraining the desire to introduce themselves to Old Master Qu.

Sheng Jiaqi guided Old Master Qu into the VIP lounge. Upon seeing Old Master Qu, Sheng family’s patriarch stood up, and Chen Shijing and Chen Shixian naturally followed suit to welcome Old Master Qu.

The atmosphere in the VIP lounge remained harmonious, devoid of political discussions. They chatted about various topics, seemingly relaxed without a hint of tension.

Time passed by, and it was time for the wedding ceremony.

Old Master Qu officiated the wedding, not just because of his seniority but also because Cookie and Chen Li were his grandchildren.

Inside Wei Chen and Wei Hua’s dressing room, the wedding planner came in, notifying them that it was time for the ceremony in the banquet hall.

“Oh… time already?” Wei Hua’s heart skipped a beat, feeling overwhelmed. Sweat formed on his forehead. How could it be time already?

Wei Chen was calmer, nodding at the wedding planner. “We’ll be right out.”

After the message, the wedding planner left. The ceremony had just begun, and there was much for them to attend to.

While Wei Hua was still tense, Wei Chen glanced at him and walked out first.

Wei Hua hesitated for a moment before following, feeling so nervous that he became clumsy.

In Chen Li and Cookie’s dressing room, Chen Yunlan and Sheng Jiaqi had also arrived. Later, they would walk their sons down the aisle to hand them over to the other two men.

Though this marriage was ceremonial and wouldn’t change anything afterward, both fathers had moist eyes as they looked at their sons.

The banquet hall was all set. Wei Chen and Wei Hua stood in their designated spots. Old Master Qu, as the officiant, stood before them, watching the young couple with admiration.

At the same time, Grandfather Wei finally got out of the car and, supported by Housekeeper Zhang, stepped into the hotel.

The National Day was a peak time for weddings, and the hotel was bustling with many couples celebrating their unions. Grandfather Wei hadn’t asked Wei Hua about the specific hall for his wedding. After inquiring around, he found Wei Hua’s wedding was in the largest banquet hall.

At the entrance of the hall were two sets of wedding photos: one of Wei Hua and Cookie and another of Wei Chen and Chen Li.

“Ah, Chen Li and Wei Chen are also getting married today?” Grandfather Wei muttered unhappily upon seeing their photo. Wei Chen hadn’t informed him about the wedding or sought his approval.

“Seems so,” said Housekeeper Zhang, “with the wedding photos displayed, it’s almost certain.”

Given the presence of many distinguished guests at the wedding today, there were guards stationed at the entrance. All of them belonged to prestigious families, capable of intimidating any passerby with just their presence.

To enter the wedding venue, an invitation was necessary. When Grandfather Wei and Housekeeper Zhang attempted to enter, they were stopped by the guards. Fortunately, Wei Hua had foreseen this and sent an invitation home, which Housekeeper Zhang had brought along. The invitation was specially marked, indicating the identity of the invitee. Once the guards opened it, they realized the individuals were relatives of one of the marrying parties. They hastily opened the doors to the banquet hall, allowing Grandfather Wei to enter.

The wedding was about to commence. Wei Chen and Wei Hua stood on the stage, waiting for Chen Li and Cookie to come out. The guests below sat quietly, accompanied only by the slow flow of music.

The sudden opening of the door drew the attention of a few guests nearby. They glanced at Grandfather Wei’s group, furrowing their brows. Being late for the wedding of Old Master Qu’s grandson, they wondered if it was due to arrogance or ignorance.

However, these thoughts stayed in their minds; outwardly, they remained composed. Observing the latecomer walking towards the front, they didn’t seem embarrassed at all. He strode confidently as if the wedding venue belonged to him.

Wei Yan also attended the wedding today. Spotting Grandfather Wei, he hurried over and disregarded any potential annoyance from Grandfather Wei, pulling him to the pre-arranged seat. Wei Chen had instructed Wei Yan beforehand.

The main table hosted the elder generation. Grandfather Wei, despite being a parent of one of the marrying parties, couldn’t sit there. Sheng Jiaqi also didn’t qualify for the main table, let alone Grandfather Wei.

The seating wasn’t too far from the main table but was the most prestigious after it. Sheng Jiaqi, Chen Yunlan, and even Chen Li’s two teachers were seated at this table.

Master Sun and Zhuge Yu roughly guessed Grandfather Wei’s identity and nodded at him. Grandfather Wei maintained his demeanor, giving a slight “Hmm” as a greeting. It was evident he didn’t recognize the two individuals.

Wei Yan softly introduced the two people’s identities to Grandfather Wei, who, however, regarded them as ordinary painters, not paying much attention to them.

Afterward, Grandfather Wei’s slightly displeased gaze landed on the main table. When he recognized who was seated there, a momentary blank expression flickered across his face.

As a businessman, he might not be familiar with internationally renowned artists, but it was impossible for him not to recognize some of the leaders or former leaders of his own country. When he matched the faces at the main table with the names he knew, Old Wei immediately realized that his intentional lateness today didn’t showcase his status and grandeur; instead, it became a joke!

He intended by arriving late to subtly convey his disapproval of the marriage and send a message that merely marrying Wei Hua wouldn’t grant access to the Wei family. But now, as Grandfather Wei scanned the venue, he recognized most of the prominent figures present, individuals he could name in their respective fields. These people were all influential figures!

Why were these individuals attending this wedding? Grandfather Wei believed that neither Wei Chen nor Wei Hua, despite their significant connections in the capital, could have invited these influential figures.

Then, why were these influential figures willing to attend this wedding? It could only be due to the other party of the marrying couple.

Due to a recent news broadcast a few days ago, Grandfather Wei speculated that Chen Li might have considerable backing. However, the nature of this backing was unclear to him. Hence, his visit to the capital now was to ascertain the truth.

So, were all these influential figures present because of the backing behind Chen Li?

If Grandfather Wei had known it was Wei Chen and Chen Li’s wedding today, he would have arrived much earlier!

Although Grandfather Wei maintained his composure outwardly, internally he was filled with shock and a hint of embarrassment. The thought of his confident entrance a while ago made him feel uncomfortable.

Regardless of Grandfather Wei’s thoughts, the wedding had already commenced.

The wedding planner went to Chen Li and Cookie’s waiting room, allowing Chen Yunlan and Sheng Jiaqi to take them out.

“Should I go out too?” Chen Li, still unaware that it was his wedding, one where he was one of the protagonists, looked puzzled when Chen Yunlan approached to lead him.

“Xiao Li, today is also your wedding with Wei Chen.” There was no need to hide it anymore, so Chen Yunlan straightforwardly informed Chen Li.

Chen Li stared at Chen Yunlan with wide eyes, initially showing a delayed, bewildered reaction.

Shortly after, Cookie, noticing Chen Li’s reaction, realized he was unaware of today’s event and couldn’t help but laugh. “No wonder you’re not nervous. You didn’t know.”

Surprised? Definitely! Unexpected? Absolutely!

Chen Li was indeed surprised and unexpected! When he found out about Wei Hua and Cookie’s wedding, Chen Li had been a bit envious. However, it was only envy. After all, he and Wei Chen had already had their wedding.

As for why he felt envious, perhaps Chen Li thought that through this publicly witnessed ceremony, he could let more people know about his relationship with Wei Chen. He wanted to show that they were partners, lovers, husbands, and no one could take that away from them. Yes, Chen Li had possessiveness in his heart. Wei Chen was his sole anchor, and now, Chen Li couldn’t do without Wei Chen.

In his soul, Wei Chen’s influence had entrenched itself, impossible to eradicate.

Suddenly, Chen Li smiled foolishly, forming two crescent moons between his eyebrows and eyes. Excitedly, he placed his hand on Chen Yunlan’s hand, eager to go to the wedding venue to find Wei Chen.

Cookie looked at Chen Li’s excitement and thought, even if he knew today was his wedding, he wouldn’t have felt nervous.

“Let’s go out,” Chen Yunlan said.

Chen Li nodded eagerly. Physically present, his heart was probably already at the wedding venue.

Sheng Jiaqi glanced at Cookie, feeling a warmth in his eyes, but he managed not to display too much emotion in front of Cookie. Holding Cookie’s hand, they left the dressing room.

The flower children were Little Biscuit and a young girl from the estate. As the two fathers led their sons onto the red carpet, the flower children scattered petals from their baskets.

White petals fluttered as two handsome men waited ahead for their beloved partners…
