Chapter 149 – Shen Huai

Regarding this reward, both Zhang Changzheng and Song Yi had no objections.

However, deep down, they both knew that the greatest credit for this matter should go to Xu Jinning.

Unfortunately, they couldn’t voice it out, and the fact that they could hear Xu Jinning’s inner thoughts couldn’t be mentioned either, or it wouldn’t be good for Xu Jinning.

Nevertheless, they did indeed benefit from Xu Jinning. If they couldn’t say it, they would keep it in their hearts, repaying the favor slowly in the future.

*

After returning home, Xu Jinning looked at the newspaper and saw that her Dad Changzheng and future brother-in-law were praised, feeling happy for them.

Xu Jinning didn’t know that they investigated because they heard her inner thoughts.

Of course, even if she knew, Xu Jinning wouldn’t fuss over it.

After all, she only knew about it; it was Zhang Changzheng and Song Yi who truly took action and brought the villains to justice.

The credit belonged to them, and they deserved it.

On the other side, Lin Wangshu returned to Haishi, packed up her things from work, and prepared to go home.

Just as she came out, she encountered someone.

It was a young man in his late teens, dressed in a black long windbreaker, wearing a scarf, with a center-parted short hair, clearly dressed in a Hong Kong style of this era.

He was over 1.8 meters tall, with a slender figure and distinct facial features, especially his deep-set eyes.

“Shushu…” The young man called out to Lin Wangshu.

Seeing the young man, Lin Wangshu felt a bit embarrassed at her current disheveled appearance, her face turning red.

“What’s wrong? It’s only been a few days, and Shushu doesn’t recognize me anymore.”

“Brother Shen, it’s nothing. It’s just that I’ve resigned starting today, so someone else will be in charge of receiving you from now on.”

The person in front of her, Shen Huai, had come from Hong Kong, and she heard that the Shen family was influential there.

This time, Shen Huai came on behalf of the family, as a foreign guest. Previously, Lin Wangshu was the one in charge of receiving him.

Both of them had a very good impression of each other, and the more they interacted, the more they felt a sense of having missed each other for a long time.

Of course, that was just on the surface.

In reality, they liked each other in their hearts, but it hadn’t been explicitly expressed.

For Lin Wangshu, even though she was only fifteen years old, in the countryside, many girls her age were already married or discussing marriage.

Of course, Lin Wangshu naturally looked down on those rural men.

At the first sight of Shen Huai, Lin Wangshu felt that this man was the one she could like and the one who was worthy of her.

So, afterward, whether intentionally or unintentionally, Lin Wangshu became closer to Shen Huai and communicated more with him.

She successfully left a good impression on Shen Huai as well.

From Miss Lin at the beginning to now being called Shushu.

However, now that this job was gone, would she not be able to contact Shen Huai anymore in the future?

Thinking of this, Lin Wangshu’s already bad mood became even more restless.

When Shen Huai saw Lin Wangshu, he who had never liked anyone before, fell in love with her at first sight.

However, he had come with a purpose this time, and considering that his acquaintance with Lin Wangshu was still short, he was afraid that confessing his feelings now might startle her.

So, Shen Huai was relatively reserved in his behavior now.

Upon hearing that Lin Wangshu was resigning, Shen Huai furrowed his brow and asked, “Why are you resigning? Is there any reason? Can I help you with something?”

Lin Wangshu shook her head. “It’s because… never mind, I won’t say.”

She deliberately put on a look of grievance, her eyes reddening.

No matter how Shen Huai asked, she didn’t reveal the reason, appearing as if she had been mistreated and silently endured the injustice.

Of course, Lin Wangshu couldn’t say the real reason.

She wasn’t resigning voluntarily; she had been fired. And of course, she couldn’t mention that. She couldn’t tell Shen Huai that she had been dismissed for harming someone, for committing a crime.

“Okay, since you don’t want to say, I won’t ask anymore. But there’s something I need to tell you. I’m going back to Hong Kong.”

“You’re going back to Hong Kong so soon?”

“Yeah, I originally came to the mainland for something, and now that it’s done, I have to go back. My grandfather’s health in Hong Kong isn’t too good.”

“In that case, will we not see each other again?” Lin Wangshu’s eyes grew even redder, a tear rolling down from the corner of her eye.

“You don’t have to worry. I’ll give you my address and phone number in Hong Kong. You can write to me or call me.” Shen Huai hesitated for a moment, then reached out and gently wiped away the tears from the corner of Lin Wangshu’s eyes with his fingertip.

“Don’t cry, Shushu. You need to be happy.”

“Don’t worry, I’ll definitely come back to the mainland. When I do, I’ll come to see you first thing.”

“Okay.”

“By the way, this is a gift for you.” Shen Huai took out a gift box and handed it to Lin Wangshu.

“Don’t open it now. Open it when you get home.”

Lin Wangshu wanted to refuse at first, but looking at Shen Huai’s affectionate gaze, she knew she couldn’t refuse.

In the end, she silently accepted the gift, but she also gave him a gift in return.

Lin Wangshu took off her hairpin and carefully handed it to Shen Huai.

“I don’t have anything to give you right now. This is my favorite hairpin. I hope you won’t dislike it.”

“I won’t.” Shen Huai took the hairpin, treating it like a treasure as he held it in his hand. “I’ll take good care of it. Whenever I think of you, I’ll take it out and look at it.”

Since they couldn’t say much more, Shen Huai left.

He should have left earlier, but he stayed to wait for Lin Wangshu to return, and today he finally got to see her.

Now that Lin Wangshu had seen him, he couldn’t delay any longer.

After all, his grandfather’s condition in Hong Kong wasn’t very good, and his grandfather was currently the head of the Shen family.

Lin Wangshu was unaware that Shen Huai’s visit to the mainland this time had a different purpose.

It was because his grandfather was in poor health and needed surgery, requiring a large amount of blood transfusion.

Shen Huai’s grandfather had a rare RH-negative Panda Blood type.

This blood type was extremely rare, and there was no second person with the same blood type in Hong Kong. Even in the Shen family, a large clan, no one had inherited the Panda Blood type from his grandfather.

This time coming to the mainland, Shen Huai had learned that there were people with RH-negative Panda Blood here.

There were two people, one was a pregnant woman, and the other was the child in the pregnant woman’s belly.

Naturally, Shen Huai’s target was the unborn child of the pregnant woman. It would be best if he could bring the child to Hong Kong, to the Shen family, raise the child, and have them become his grandfather’s blood donor.

This child was extremely important to his grandfather, as it concerned his life.

As the person who found this child, his grandson, Shen Huai, naturally would also gain his grandfather’s attention.

After all, he wasn’t the only heir to the Shen family; the competition for heirs was fierce.

Originally, everything seemed to be going well with this plan.

However, a few days ago, news came that the plan had failed.

The person involved, including his accomplices, was caught.

Although he now knew that the woman with Panda Blood and her child were somewhere, Shen Huai dared not act rashly, fearing that someone was watching.

So, with no results, Shen Huai could only choose to return to Hong Kong.

  1. What a disgusting and vile person! It’s already vile and disgusting that you wanted to abduct a child from its family and use them as a bloodbag. But it was for someone who lived their whole life! You were willing to condemn a child to mortal H*ll!!!!!

  2. When Shen Huai was first introduced, I thought for certain he was deceived by Lin Wangshu’s green tea act, but it turns out he’s just as green tea and vicious as her–they truly are soulmates. I can only hope that both his grandfather and he suffer retribution for their attempted actions and unscrupulous nature.

    Thanks for the chapter! 😀
